Is the Bruins loss the biggest choke job ever?

Beautiful B.C.
I'm not shocked and confused at all. It's just fun to watch an arrogant fan mock another team for losing to the Panthers in 7 games that his team almost got swept by.
Then you should just sit back and enjoy it instead of putting on your cape and protecting the bruins fans, eh? They can take care of themselves, they have plenty of success to easily put a leafs fan in their place without you acting like their hero.

Except maybe this year, since you know they had a historically good team and threw it all away while playing the 8th seeds number 3 goalie in the first round.

But its okay, it was "only their defence and goaltending!" that was the problem, thank god that's just a small part of a team

Yeah, that 8th seed that eliminated the Leafs without breaking a sweat.

3-0 series choke was a lot bigger than this. Yes congrats on all the wins in regular season, playoffs are a whole different ball game. You're up 3-0 and have 4 games to end a team's season and cant do it. Yeah its way bigger.

this is the worst, will always be the worse. This is our version of our parents 1971 pain.

2010 doesn't meet shit after 2011, this will hurt even if they win next year.

2019 is right there. The Cup was in the building. I dunno. They all suck.

Still, I would rather be competitive and take these lumps from time to time than be a fan of one of the irrelevant teams of most of the fans dunking in this thread are.

Oh I am enjoying it. A Leafs fan posting this much in a thread to bash the Bruins takes an impressive level of self-delusion.

It's made the thread really entertaining though. Keep up the good work!

Not at all. Rather, its a statement about what a wonderful, exciting sport we like and how a bit of luck, a ton of determination and sacrifice can make a difference. Truly a magnificent sport!!!

Did the 1980 Philadelphia Flyers choke to the New York Islanders?

1st overall loses to a 5th overall. Was it an upset? Or do we take a broader view and see that the year before the Islanders were first overall and then subsequently won 4 straight Cups, 5 straight SCF appearances, and two more 1st overall finishes

And then in light of these facts think that perhaps the 1980 Islanders had some kind of underlying- and in hindsight- temporary issue that dragged them down.

The Florida Panthers finished 8th in the conference this year, when factoring that this team finished 1st overall could it possibly be that their record this year is an indication of a hiccup rather than their true skill level?

nope. They had a great regular season and like the oilers in I think 82--that meant shit come playoff time

for me--choke jobs are when a team is up 3 games to 0 and lose 4 games to 3

No, it’s a parity driven league.

It’s a shame what happened to Boston, you want to see a team like that rewarded with a Cup Finals.

I would be sick if I was a bruins fan. That team was incredible, and they had the panthers on the ropes. Marchand not scoring on a breakaway in dying moments of game 5 going on to lose in OT. Losing game 6 while scoring 5 goals on bobrovsky. Even in game 7 they let it slip away. No one can score on bobrovsky anymore and he’s taking them to the final. This cup could have been the bruins in a walk and they let it slip away again.

Florida spanking Toronto and Carolina definitely makes Boston look better. They at least had them on the ropes and were a minute from moving on. Boston likely cruises to the cup if they get by Florida.

Disappointing but in reality it was a series between the last two presidents trophy winners. Florida the best #8 seed ever along with 2012 LA.

Yea but Florida exposed some major cracks in Boston's defense. Carolina for example has handled their forecheck way better than Boston did. Problem is they can't score.

Anyone who watched the regular season meetings between the two should’ve realized the points gap between them wasn’t a true indication of how the series could/should pan out.
I mean to be fair, we went 3-1 against Toronto in the regular season and nearly swept them. We were also even with Tampa in the regular season last year and got swept.

Regular season matchups aren't always a good indicator.

Say they did beat the Panthers. They'd still have to deal with the Leafs and Hurricanes. Hardly "a walk", and we all have seen where assuming who will win a series takes you...nowhere fast.
