Is Quinn Hughes overrated?

Half the league is overrated if you go by the posters on this forum.

He's one of the most exciting young players in the league right now, isn't that why we watch sports? To be entertained?

Hughes has excellent stick work and in a couple more years I think we will be watching a defender as competent as Duncan Keith.

In two years Duncan Keith will be about 40. So Hughes will be as competent defensively as Keith.

He s a great player, but will never ever be a true #1 ala Weber, etc.

#1 - He is too small

he is a great offensive minded dman. he is not good defensively. His strength is his skating and his offensive zone prowess.

A guy like Hughes is great to have for a winning team. he is not going to be good defensively. You don't need a bunch of Hughes on your team anyways. All about balance.

You don't need to play PK to be considered a Norris trophy or a good defenceman. If that's the criteria, then Tanev would be a perennial Norris winner.
