Karlsson,
OEL,
Lindholm,
Suter,
Jones
Keith,
Doughty,
Giordano,
Josi,
Subban,
Hedman,
Pietrangelo,
Slavin

Right there is 13 no doubters at least better all around imo.

We can start adding other young Dmen like Sergachev/Ekblad/etc, guys like Burns/Klingberg/Krug/etc. it is hard to put Provorov clearly in the top 20 even.
Lol @ Slavin and OEL.

And Keith too unless this season is just a down year.

Slavin? Come on kid.

Now I know you have never watched Slavin. He's so good, the best on one of the best defensive teams in the league and has 1279 CA and a CF% of 54.5. Provorov has 1864 CA in the same amount of games with a CF% of 47.3.

Production is quite similar 7 points apart, while Provy get more PP time.
I'm not spitting this out of my butt dude, ask around.

If you're wanting to put an emphasis on the defensive end of things and for some reason exclude Karlsson, Klingberg, Carlson, Krug, then here you go:

Drew Doughty
Victor Hedman
PK Subban
Alex Pietrangelo
Seth Jones
Ryan Suter
Roman Josi
Hampus Lindholm
OEL
Duncan Keith
Kris Letang
Jake Gardiner
Zach Werenski

I think that's over 10. And I did that without really having to think too hard of it
How did "Jake Gardiner" slip in there? You guys are shameless!

49pts, and take a look at his possession stats - specifically his shot suppression stats. You’re clueless

Is he really that good though? I mean i can think of a few that are better, especially in terms of those possession stats and shot suppression stats.

I mean even Barrie and Klingberg have atleast on par possession and shot suppression relative to team (Klingberg is really far ahead of Gardiner though)

I don't get to watch much Flyer's game, maybe I'll try to catch the game today on NBSCN to watch Provorov more... But, for the Werenski/Provorov debate... At this time, I would probably side with Provorov and I'm a jackets fan. Werenski isn't the greatest at his own end zone just yet, he has his gaffe's back there. I was kind of expecting slightly more offense from him this year, but I think he's battling a minor injury or something.

But, they are both still really young and can certainly grow the next few years.

leafers just hate the flyers cause they always used to beat em in the playoffs. **** they're delusional sometimes
i mean if we are going to talk about delusional, flyers fans have been boasting about several elite dman, the best two way forward in the league, Hart candidate Giroux, point per game elite winger, jack adams candidate coach.

but up until this week it was a significant possibility they miss the playoffs. we heard about "the best crop of defensive prospects the league has ever seen" for so long, and it really didn't amount to much. we arevso used to flyers fans blowing smoke why would we take them seriously now?

He is totally going to name Rielly, and it’ll be hilarious.
I mean, he is the 1D on a 101 point team and right now has 50 points in 73 games. Rielly is having a legitimately great season by most any measure. At this point right now, yes I would put him above Provorov (although this could definitely change in coming years).

As to the OP I would say no; not at this point. But Provorov is a solid talent among the incoming generation of D-men. I think he definitely could crack top 10 in the future.

Your argument lost all validation with “jack Adams candidate coach”. Hakstol is hated amongst the majority of flyers fans. If we had a competent coach things would be different about now. It’s actually a friggen miracle that we are in a position to make the playoffs at this point.

We have 2 great young defensemen. We do not have a truly elite (and that's your word, not any Flyers fan's) guy back there, not yet anyway. We have a great young prospect the coach is scared to play because offense is bad apparently. Then we have Gudas in the middle of his worst season as a Flyer, and 3 fringe NHLers in Hagg, Manning, & MacDonald.

the best two way forward in the league,

Wait, when did we get Bergeron? Oh, you meant Couturier. Well, he's certainly one of the best 2-way forwards in the league and is likely to get a Selke nomination this year, but I think most Flyers fans would easily choose Bergeron as the better 2-way player.

Hart candidate Giroux,

Is he not a Hart candidate?

point per game elite winger,

Is he not a PPG winger? And again, the only one using the word elite is you.

jack adams candidate coach.

Flyers fans aren't delusional. We know exactly what our issues are. Outside of a few top vets, we're an extremely young team. Our bottom 4 is ugly. We have an entire line of uselessness, which the coach thinks is our 3rd line, because vets. Our second line has 2 rookies on it that have a combined career total of 29 points. Our goalies are terrible and/or injured. Our PP2 can't score. Our passive PK bleeds goals against. We're consistently hamstrung by a coach that doesn't know what the hell he's doing. Prospects deserving of merit call-ups don't get them, because the team is scared to have too many rookies on the team at once, so we play past-their-prime vets to ill-effect instead.

As for "the best crop of defensive prospects the league has ever seen" (and I defy you to find one Flyers fan who ever posted such a thing), here's how it's turned out.

1) Shayne Gostisbehere. Calder runner-up. Broke 6o points this season.
2) Ivan Provorov. Was a legit #1 defenseman at age 20.
3) Robert Hagg. Played 70 games so far this year as a rookie. Led league in hits for much of the season. Upside is bottom pairing defender. (I actually don't much like him as a player and think there's a strong argument for him being the worst defenseman on the team.)
4) Travis Sanheim. Too good for the AHL. Solid rookie campaign considering the coach is terrified of playing him despite the fact that he's clearly the team's 3rd best defenseman because he actually tries to do stuff with the puck. Good advanced stats. Can't wait until he actually gets PP time. (Hey Hak, maybe PP2 would actually be able to f***ing score a goal now and then? You might as well give it a try, right?)
5) Sam Morin. Top pairing AHL defender who pretty much lost the entire season due to injury. Will be a Flyer next year.
6) Phil Myers. Strong AHL rookie campaign has been hampered with injuries. Likely will stay in the A until the Flyers move either Gudas or MacDonald.

So, it's turned our fairly well thus far. We got our top pairing set, the coach is beginning to trust Sanheim more, and hopefully Myers & Morin can stay healthy next season.

Erik Karlsson is a top 10 all around d man?

It’s hilarious. The guy can’t defend to save his life.

Please people read what I said, two way defense man!

And let me guess, you're the one who decides who is 2-way and who isn't, right?

Lame thread is lame.

We will see how good Provorov is when he plays against the Bergeron line today. I'm worried for him.

I sat here thinking about where I’d start in this ridiculous post and I settled on not bothering. You’re not the type to ever change your insane opinion despite how much facts are thrown at you.

Jack Adams standard coach
