Is Kirby Dach ready to be the #1 centre next season?

he's going to be a 60-70 pt 2 way beast in his prime imo assuming he stays healthy, lets see what he looks like at 23-24 before writing him off as some run of mill top 9 center
 
At this point its time to start wondering if Dach is anything more then a bottom 6 forward

Last year his underwhelming play was attributed to coming off wrist injury ,, What excuses are there for his pathetic performance this season?

When using a 3rd overall pick on a player you should expect a star player for franchise not a guy who is essentially looking the part of David Kampf out there

Well maybe he won’t get $6 million out right just based on his draft number…Strome got $3 million and he was 3rd overall…let’s compare Dachs numbers before his second contract to Stromes…

dach and kubalik seem to be the new punching bags for some posters here...

both are fine, Dach is a kid learning and growing, kubalik is struggling however that had alot to do with JC IMO, give him some time, he will come around and be the goal scorer he has been.
 
He is the #1 center and on most nights he's about the best player on the ice for the Hawks.
And he'll only get better as the season progresses. This kid is gonna be a monster.

Kane , Debrincat and Jones are the best players on Hawks

Also I would not be happy with David Kampf as our #1C so why are people celebrating a guy who's basically played at that level?

Very much like batman, dach is the hero the hawks need but not the one they deserve

Dach is earning his way into a qualifying offer. No more. I hope KD hands out contracts based on what they have done vs what they think they might do. Make him earn it. Kakko is scoring at the same rate too.
 
Dach IS trying to shoot more.

He’s actually 5th on the team in shot attempts. Of those, only 8 have been blocked.

The problem is, of those remaining 42 unblocked shots, only 28 hit the net. He’s missing the net alot. He’s not a natural shooter.

I maintain he’s better off leaning into what he his, which is a puck carrying, puck protecting, play-making center. Which means he has to be the guy with the puck on his stick most of his shifts. If he’s unwilling or incapable of TAKING that job from Patrick Kane, then swap Dach and Toews.


…all of that being said, Im not sure Kirby will wver be more than a supporting piece. Which is why I was in favor of building a package around him in a trade for Eichel. But that was before we spent picks on Jones, so… we’re pretty much stuck hoping he turns out great.

I wouldnt have given up much for eichel. His neck injury is no joke and a similar injury probably cut 3-5 years off peyton manning's career in a less physically demanding position in sports. Yes, eichels going for a different surgery and is younger, but its a pretty sizeable risk imo.
 
Kirby is a superior skater to Creighton....Creighton was just big and lumbering out there.....Dach has better vision....he may not become what people expect from a #3 overall, but everyone will want Kirby Dach on their team when its all said and done.
