is it ALL Randy fault? no but it is AT LEAST 50% of reason and that's a fact. The reality is this while this team has it's player issues of that there is no doubt it isn't buffalo either it has some VERY talented pieces in Kessel JVR, Bernier, Rielly and Phaneuf there is enough there that a decent coach would get this team to the playoffs

I believe not only will this make the playoffs now that's Randy is gone but when the full time coach comes in cause spott is not the guy you will see this team reach it's full potential

There are other issues but Randy wad a cancer and HAD to removed.

I believe one of 3 guys will be our next coach

Babcock
Maclean
Nolan

one of those 3 guys will be the next full time coach IMO then you will what a GOOD coach can do

That was nonsensical.

Management = providing the players

Coaches = Coaching those players

Players = playing

Carlyle gets 50% of the Blame?

No. It's not all Carlyle's fault - which is why there are rumours swirling that the Leafs want to trade some of their core pieces.

I do watch the team and I don't know that.

Let me ask you this. How Is the other 50% of the blame divided among the Management and Players? Or is Management absolved?

Good question and a tough one to answer because Nonis has been here a LONG time but guys like Shanny, Dubas, Hunter are brand new so to me we have to give MOST of the management team, Nonis NOT included some time.

I would split the the remainder of the blame about 30% Nonis 20% players Shanny, Dubas, Hunter are completely absolved for now but that won't last forever.

Like I said I feel like we have some talented pieces that a good coach should be able to turn around I don't think it needs to be blown up

Randy never adapted to try to even out the huge swings the Leafs had. That was his downfall.

When things would go wrong he would actually tell the media "I am not sure what is going wrong". That alone to me is a guy who was clueless in a market like Toronto.

Carlyle knew his weakness was shots against and getting his puck out of his own zone consistently. His solution? Have his wingers jump the zone early to try to great odd man chances on the rush. It isn't just Kessel. If you watch Leafs games you know a winger on each of their lines do this. Kessel's speed just allows him to get a bit further down ice, which helps why his line can create so many odd man rushes.

Leafs are too talented to be this bad

Coaching by Randy Carlyle is why the Leafs have sucked the last year and a half. The Leafs just have too many talented players to get out shot and out possessed every night. Just watch, you'll all see. This Carlyle firing is a huge blessing and has saved the season.

Edit: Leafs corsi from when Carlyle was hired, to when he was fired

There have been a lot of teams with a really talented roster that have played like complete ass. Why should the Leafs be any different?

Carlyle was absolutely a poor coach but their bottom 6 is poor. Their top 6 is okay but their special teams are also a big let down. I'd say they're a bubble team.

Leadership appears to be the problem, not talent. Not sure if replacing the coach will help. The best leadership comes from within, not above.

His corsi totals where similar with the ducks as well they are a team that can score and I believe that in the time we have between now and the trade deadline we will discover if our inability to break out of our own end was a coaching issue or a personnel issue

Because of coaching.

The problem with this theory is that the Leafs have been bad for the past 10 years... They have gone thru several coaches...
Carlyle is part of the problem, but denying accountability for the players is just denial. You will never go anywhere with this mentality.

Continue to drink that Dubas Koolaid...

The Leafs's simply do not have enough quality NHL forwards or defensemen. Their only strength is goaltending.

[MOD] Their bottom six is actually quite good, there are a couple question marks in the top 6. And their special teams? They are he only team in the league I believe with a top 10 PK and top 10 PP.[MOD]

They're IN the playoffs right now, are they not?

The Leafs are who we thought they were. Good offense, bad defense.

I thought before the season began that they should make the playoffs, and I still think that.

But a low seed, and not one I can see really getting on a run and doing some damage.

So the question is, can Toronto add enough pieces around the current core in the next few years to move up to contender status, or do they need to blow it up and rebuild?

Assuming that just making the playoffs isn't the goal.
