Dave Lowry during his first interview:
I was just saying, don’t expect much tonight and, aside from lineups, we can’t put any of what happens tonight on Lowry.
He hasn’t had any time to implement anything.
Give him a week or 2 to get his vision out.
Good one. Ha, ha, ha. Defend that one Charlie! The first thing Lowry needs to do is put Huddy in the pressbox, telling him he wants a different perspective on the game, and then forget he left him there.
meet the new boss; same as the old bossLowry as the HC.......I'll hold my opinions until I see what he can do. I think its time to move on from PMO, but I just have a very low opinion about the vast majority of HC's out there now days. Too many retreds and old school guys who say the same thing in just a slightly different way which doesn't make them any better then PMO.
Ok Lowry, lets see what you can do.
But he can control who gets on the ice in certain situations and roles and icetime, and beginning to insert shift length time, etcLet's see what Dave does with no practices and very little time to actually change anything

He’s already fixed the lines. But he can control who gets on the ice in certain situations and roles and icetime, and beginning to insert shift length time, etc
Go Dave's Jets Go!
Have we started a fire Lowry thread yet
I think we decided to give him 3-5 minutes into the Caps game.
When Dave Lowry coached the Victoria Royals his teams had a very very high work ethic.....I expect that to improve with the Jets.
What else can you tell us about the style of play he uses
Well...good question.
I would say his teams evolved from the first two years from a bigger grinding old school team to one that had alot of smaller forwards with high skill. In their heyday the Royals loved and used the stretch pass to great success.
They certainly could skate as a team very well when he was the coach. They ran into trouble and had off years when they lacked puck moving defenceman. A key part of the team was Joe Hicketts, who was a the prototypical puck moving d man and now plays for Grand Rapids in the AHL. We often had big tough D but they weren't the best and I found there was sometimes disconnect between them and the forwards. I think that is more on the GM than the coach though.
Maybe my fondest memory was I think what was Dave Lowry's last game. It was the longest in CHL history. It was 5 OTs and lasted over 6 hours. I was there never forget it. Started at 2 pm and ended at 8 30 at night.
The cool part was the team literally played until they keeled over. It was an elimination game and the Royals lost, but the heavily favored Silvertips had so much taken out of them the were swept in 4 in the next round.
That was the true beautiful part of the team, they never made it past round 2, but they played in such a way nothing was left in the tank... literally nothing.
Also, none of those Royals teams produced any NHL players. Great juniors yes, but the overwhelming majority just went on to Canadian colleges or just retired.
Lowery had a great reputation and he got the most, the absolute most out of this teams.
This may be an incomplete explanation, I am not a good hockey tactics guy by any means, and dealing with NHL players is different.
But I just say this, what the Jets need, Lowry has accomplished at the lower levels at least.
Thanks that was a good explanation. Sounds like he can modify his approach depending on the team he has.
But it seems the one hall.ark is work ethic and that is one of the things this team needs to get back to like we showed in 14-15 and 17-18.
I hope he comes in and does what he thinks is right and Maurice didn't rub off on him too much. I think he could be a long term coach. Looks like a guy that will hold players accountable.
Thanks for the insight!Well...good question.
