Not gonna put much stock into the rankings right now. In general the team has won a couple games more than they probably should have. But so what.....they won them. I'll look where they are at the 30 game mark. If they are still in the fight that would be a great sign.

They have amped it up! @Viqsi "Hockey For Her" seems to gain popularity, I don't know if I should be surprised by this.

From the story:
"The Blue Jackets have a commitment to making the game accessible," Boiman said. "Part of this program is creating an opportunity for our female fans to have a connection to our sport and to foster a community for women who share the same enthusiasm for hockey."
This year, Hockey for Her will be hosting a total of five sessions throughout the remainder of the season, an expansion of the program from years past.
"In the past we only offered one Hockey for Her event per year, but due to popular demand and feedback from our female fans, we wanted to expand the opportunity this year," Boiman said.
Accessibility is a word you hear a lot nowadays in various contexts. Can someone please clarify for me, what are the things around the game that some fans didn't have an access to (or had a more limited access to before) without these events?

since the trade…

Josh Anderson:

31 points in 72 games, 0.43 ppg. -22

Max Domi:

31 points in 60 games, 0.52 ppg. -13

———————

max is at a PPG this season while Josh doesn’t even have a half a point per game. (9 points in 20 games)

Samuel Knazko who the Jackets also acquired (his pick) in the trade is sitting at 14 points in 15 games as a defenseman in

This kind of perpetual garbage stream really starts to wear on a person after a while.

The Athletic: NHL Future Power Rankings: Projecting the 2024-25 standings

Guess what? Despite the fact that it's ostensibly for 2024-25, the projections look remarkably like their projections for 2021-22. Except in this one they have the Jackets even lower (29th) because who the f*** knows nobody ever bothers to explain "lol columbus" and I'm seriously beginning to question whether or not I should continue with my subscription to these assholes.

I'm with you. It feels like frat boy jokes nonstop regarding the CBJ. Power rankings they do every week is basically "It feels like CBJ should be higher, but nah they are the CBJ and they're supposed to suck this year anyway lol" Pronman also re-ranked the Chinakhov draft and had Yegor in the 40s in the tier of "may play NHL games" - well guess what, Chin is actually SCORING GOALS in the NHL, does he even watch the games? Between him and Dom L's constant under-ranking, I won't be renewing my subscription.

Curious on what people think about this. Should PLD get a “welcome back” tribute?

On one hand, I say no. Because I hate him. But he also was only here for 3.1 years and although he was very good, that’s not enough time to leave a massive impression.

But on the other, I thought panarin deserved one and he was only here for 2 years.

So begrudgingly i say PLD probably should have one too. What say y’all

I can't see Jarmo and Larsen being OK with it based on the way it ended

Panarin showed up to work everyday and didnt let any contract thought affect his play. Same for Bob even though his situation was also pretty public. PLD quit on the guys and forced a trade sooner than Jarmo would have liked so I doubt he gets much of anything

Edit: Laine hasnt been back to Winnipeg yet has he? Theyll probably do something for him and Roslovic if Columbus doesnt for PLD just to be petty and look better

Panarin deserved one because he was honest and upfront with the team, and continued to perform and support the team at a high level even though he was ready to move on. He was a professional who did well by us, even if it'd have been nice for him to stay.

PLD tried to play a cloak-and-dagger game, got outed because it was screwing up the locker room, and promptly pouted his way out Former #7 style. He can go f*** himself.

Be the bigger team and give him one. Then let the fans just boo during it and when he touches the puck.

Alternatively, give him one but just loop his zero-effort shift against Tampa Bay and play "Entry of the Gladiators."

I'm going to change my answer from "No" to "whatever throws him off his game the most"

Honestly I'm over the whole deal. It's whatever. Him wanting out arguably set us up better than if he stayed anyways. If Laine wasn't so good and if Jack wasn't useful then maybe I'd be upset still but that's not the world we live in. He wanted out, Laine and Jack wanted in. The drama hurt short term but perhaps helped long term. I don't actively root for or against PLD unless he's in the NWA or if CBJ is in Winnipeg.

Panarin was also UFA, not RFA. That has to be factored.

I don't think he "should" (not that I care a ton) but I'll disagree with some on here and actually think he will get it.

Jarmo Kekalainen's ability to quickly pull us out of what could have been a dire tailspin is Jarmo Kekalainen's achievement. Giving PLD anything even resembling a modicum of credit for it is inappropriate at best.

The system makes no sense because, as just one example, one of the factors is roster by players 23 and older, but doesn't differentiate other than that. There's a huge difference looking three years ahead if your core is mostly mid-20s (like ours) vs. mostly 30s (like Boston, Pittsburgh, Washington). But it just ranks the current rosters of players 23 and older, without projecting how they'll be in three years.

It's probably fair to say guys 23 and older won't improve much... but it's not fair to not calculate guys in their 30s regressing.

That's not how I meant it. I just worded it badly. If it truly did screw us over long term I'd be mad but since we may even be better off then I don't really care to think about what could have been if he wanted to stay here.

Okay, I suppose that's fair.

Personally, I'm still a little too vindictive to let him off that easily. ;)

lol did someone not realize what their assignment was or how far away '24-'25 is?

Hahahaha Anaheim is going to have Zegras and MacTavish down the middle for a decade - right in their primes in '24-'25 - and they have them 30th?

EDIT - I'm on a $1/month promo subscription but no way am I paying full price when that's up. I can just follow them on Twitter for their snark and poor reasoning. And then at full price, it's not worth it just to get access to Porty for CBJ coverage.
