Look at how many key moments, plays, goals that PLD had compared to Panarin. Bread was out there busting ass for two years scoring huge goals and being a human highlight reel, PLD has a hat trick in the bubble. f*** him and his tribute.

Okay, I suppose that's fair.

Personally, I'm still a little too vindictive to let him off that easily. ;)
In my perfect world our fans act like he isn't there. No boos when he has the puck, no cheers or boos when his little video plays on the big screen. Just apathy. Make him feel like he's unimportant instead of hated. Thats not happening though he's getting booed whenever he touches the puck.

Agreed, but, and this is just hypothetical; what if he scored a goal and tried to taunt fans with his celly? Still continue with the silent treatment?

This kind of perpetual garbage stream really starts to wear on a person after a while.

The Athletic: NHL Future Power Rankings: Projecting the 2024-25 standings

Guess what? Despite the fact that it's ostensibly for 2024-25, the projections look remarkably like their projections for 2021-22. Except in this one they have the Jackets even lower (29th) because who the f*** knows nobody ever bothers to explain "lol columbus" and I'm seriously beginning to question whether or not I should continue with my subscription to these assholes.

It's Pronman, just ignore him.

In 2017 this bozo had Heiskanen 8th, Pettersson 17th, and Makar 19th. Pettersson's recent struggles aside, that's your clear best 3 players from that draft, and they were drafted 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

I miss reading Portzline but that's about it.

Curious on what people think about this. Should PLD get a “welcome back” tribute?

On one hand, I say no. Because I hate him. But he also was only here for 3.1 years and although he was very good, that’s not enough time to leave a massive impression.

But on the other, I thought panarin deserved one and he was only here for 2 years.

So begrudgingly i say PLD probably should have one too. What say y’all

No. Panarin didn't ask for a trade or quit on the team. Dubois did.

A good way to show you're the 'bigger person' is to respectfully appreciate what a former player did for the organization.
If it takes a 30 second video, then so be it.

CBJ will show their professionalism this way.

This. You never know what the future holds. Maybe a guy he works out with in the off season is a UFA we want 5 years from now. And that guy asks PLD about Columbus. Be the bigger person.

Riley Nash deserves a tribute too.

If a guy we're interested in decides his best source on our city and organization is someone who very publicly forced his way out in as dramatic and pouty a manner as possible, we're pretty much f***ed regardless.

IIRC Dubois did the same thing on a junior team. When a guy shows you who he is, believe him. For all we know he might get sick of Winnipeg one day and start moping around. Not our problem anymore. I'd be more frustrated with him but I frankly like the team better this way. Laine and Jack are good, and our team isn't dependent on PLD as a long term 1C "solution". If you offered me this outcome or the alternative of him staying I'd genuinely choose this route.

You never know why someone will make the decision they do. Be the bigger person. You don’t have to give him the key to the city. Just show some highlights like Game 3 against Toronto. Who doesn’t want to see highlights from Game 3 vs Toronto?

As I have said in the past, I have a heard a rumor that kind of puts me on PLD’s side of his wanting to leave. It at least makes me sympathetic to him. He has kept his mouth shut which is probably the best thing for this franchise whatever his reason for leaving. So we shouldn’t act like jerks. If fans want to boo, go ahead. But management should act like professionals.

Without going into specifics... does it relate to management? His CBJ teammates? The coaching staff? The city? Something in his personal life?

this is really random but do you think that a guys like Kuraly/Chinakhov who weren’t a part of the team last year are aware of PLD returning for the first time tomorrow night? / the ‘hype’ around it

I just don't get the tribute video for every player.

Guys who were warriors or faces out the franchise like Calvert or Atkinson or Foligno make sense to me. But PLD, Murray, and all, not everyone whi8p played here needs one.

ryan murray 110 percent deserved one. never once complained, even in our ‘dark days’. loved that guy on the ice and still do. a trooper, a Jacket at heart forever.

To me this is simple. If the org made the decision you're not here, you get a video tribute. If you made the decision not to be here, sorry not sorry.

But with this logic, so many grey areas appear.

For example, Foligno. He didn't WANT to leave, but he also had the opportunity to veto any deal he wanted. He even got to pick where he wanted to go. Does he get a tribute?

I'm not sure if we attempted to re-sign Calvert, but I do know he was pretty eager to leave. Does he get one?

Jack Johnson was attempted to be re-signed a few times, he said no, and then requested a trade later. Didn't get traded, and both mutually parted ways. Should he get one?

There's no right or wrong way to do video tributes. I think people make too much of them. Anybody who knows how to edit videos could put together a "thank you" video in about 30 minutes. It's a nice cap tip to what they did for your team, even if it was for as short of a stay as Panarin's was.

I remain conflicted on PLD getting one. I hear both arguments about being the bigger person, or just moving by it. Its a tough call. My gut says he will get one, but that's still a guess.

I don't think if players want to leave they should be criticised. For them it's their job. People also leave jobs based on their own wishes. The other thing is how they play. Whether like Panarin and Bobrovsky or like Carter and Dubois.
