They don’t have to. But if they finish 3rd there’s a good chance they win the lottery.

Even if they finish last it's still only 16% chance to win it, no? (3rd last being 10%.) I'm no mathematician but I'd say that still heavily favors us getting the pick.

It does. I'd still be more worried that the Hawks will turn it around and end up not drafting high at all. The West isn't very strong and Patrick Kane seems to have finally shown up.

And does anyone else find that Meyers Jewelers "Hockey For Her" promotional as offensively irritating as I do? I mean come the f*** on. On "educating our female fans on the game of hockey". IF WE'RE HERE WE KNOW IT ALREADY YOU MANSPLAINING SHITS. It's not for "her", it's telling guys "hey, not only can you buy shinies to shut your not-actually-caring-about-hockey woman up, we'll also help pay for her understanding the game when you drag her along". OMFG so much hate.
I had totally ignored these ads on the broadcasts until now, out of curiosity I went to google to learn more about this campaign.

CBJ to host Hockey For Her series, presented by Meyers Jewelers
Hockey For Her, presented by Meyers Jewelers, is a platform designed distinctly for female fans from beginners to more serious enthusiasts, offering insights on all aspects of the game of hockey. Throughout the 2021-22 season, the Blue Jackets will host five events giving participants unique experiences to expand their understanding of the game, what goes on behind the scenes, and the skills used on the ice.

I wonder whose idea it is, what motivating forces and assumptions of how different people look at the game of hockey are behind all of this. I mean, I sort of get it that it's reasonable to assume, for example, that there are potential female "fans" who are willing to know more about the game but decide not to directly "dive into" the community without hesitation to get more knowledge and better understanding, because they might feel uncertain if they'll be accepted or treated well or welcomed etc in the community mostly consisting of male beings.

But where the quote gets cringy and odd for me is that "more serious enthusiasts" part. Seriously, just trying to make sense of this.... what do events like these have to offer for fans who have been following the sport enthusiastically for a long time?

WINE. Lots of it.

Seriously, getting to ask questions of NHL officials who are set to call that evening’s game is one of the better parts. My group plays a drinking game with the questions. “Can you explain off sides?”
DRINK!

Alas, as a teetotaler, that leaves me out. I suppose I could suggest it to my sister, except she resolutely Does Not Care about anything sports other than Buckeye football (family tradition, y'know) and/or whatever sports her kids are playing.

-scoring by committee
-team is average in special teams and really across the board
-timely goals in OT and the lone shootout (otherwise, team is 3-3 when games haven't been decided by gimmicks)
-he doesn't say it, but Elvis being a .940 goalie so far has covered up a lot of their defensive lapses (getting outshot by, what, 5 or 6 shots per game)

This will look so good with the 3rds

Or they might look good on Hellebuyck if they want to wear Thrashers throwbacks in Winnipeg.

Tried to name them all. I did pretty well considering this was all from memory. Wondering who the ones I missed were. Here is who I got:

EDIT: Looked up who I missed, can't believe I didn't get two of them :(

Starters: Tugnutt, Denis, Leclaire, Mason, Bobrovsky, Elvis, Korpi

Backups: Garon, Kivlinieks, Norrena, Prusek, McElhinney

Other random ones: Brathwaite, York, Forsberg, Boucher, McKenna, Dubielwicz, Sanford

Ones I missed: Dan LaCosta, JF Labbe, and Ty Conklin

I'm going with the following 15. Not sure if Forsberg ever won a game for us, though.

Tugnutt
Denis
Leclaire
Norrena
Mason
Prusek
Brathwaite
Sanford
Bobrovsky
McElhinney
Korpisalo
Merzlikins
Kivlenieks
Conklin
Forsberg

ETA: I'm embarrassed I missed Garon, and I feel like I "should've" had the other six I missed too, but they're more understandable I didn't get them.
