Wow, we are 8 points out of the #8 seed, on Nov 14th, and that is considered almost an insurmountable mountain to climb. But, we know from experience that this is very true.

Unless the CBJ find a way to be one of the best teams in the NHL the rest of the way, we are already doomed not to make the play-offs.

So JD just confirmed during intermission Dubinsky has cellulitis....Hopefully it doesn't culture for MRSA, but regardless it's infected

"Cleaned out" = Incision and drain, had to cut it open

Aggressive antibiotics and good wound care, get back soon Dubi

We have to keep winning at a ridiculous pace and hope that Carolina, Philly and a few other teams including Pittsburgh, NJ, Isles, Boston, Detroit and Florida fall apart. Not saying it can't be done but it is going to be tough.

New Jersey is not very good. All we have to do is win 5-6 games and were right back in this.

If we can string a 5+ game win streak together, it'd look a lot different. A legit goal is to be at 0.500 by Christmas. We have 18 games between now and then so...12-6.

I'd be great to have a 15-1-1 stretch not in March -- which is just about the worst month to have one.

Yes it will be tough but we have a ton of games to play against the teams ahead of us, it's no guarantee but is we win the four point games we make up a lot of ground.

That is to say beating these teams will help in their falling apart

I do think it's interesting that we'll be halfway done playing our western conference schedule by the first week of December. In theory that's good

Historically, being below .500 at American Thanksgiving doesn't put you in the playoffs, but this team can do it. There's plenty of time to make up the gap so long as they avoid another lengthly losing streak.

Oddly enough, both times this franchise has made the playoffs the team was under .500 at Thanksgiving.

Also, both times the team didn't break .500 to stay until after the halfway point of the season.

To get to 98 points, which was the 8 seed last year, the Jackets would have to go 43-21

With the news from Friedman that the Avs are listening to offers for Tyson Barrie, would there be any interest in making a trade for him? He's also an upcoming RFA with arbitration rights.

I also saw something on the Hockey Trade Rumors facebook thread saying we were in the mix for Matt Duchene. I don't know why we would take him, or what we have to give up to be cap compliant with him. I would think we would be trying to ditch Cam and they will probably want Rychel as well. maybe 1 more for money purposes.

The most logical thing would be to trade Johansen plus something for Duchene and Barrie. I doubt it could be done. I don't even know as I'd favor it myself.

It'd have to involve a contract going back (Tyutin?) and a defender going back as well (Tyutin?) but I don't know as Tyutin adds to the value from an Avs perspective. Might require even more salary being sent away (Bourque? Campbell?), and would Avs take all that just to land Johansen and rid themselves of Duchene and Barrie? Those adds may actually decrease the value of the offer.

What a disaster that would be.

Funny, the Avs fans HATE this exact proposal from their perspective on the main trade board.....

....which means it's probably pretty close in value for both sides.
