A very good sign in practice today...

Both of those guys seem to have chips on their shoulders lately. Ever since Tyutin came back from his healthy scratches he seems to be singling someone out on the other team and then proceeds to give that person hell. It's kind of fun to watch.

That really solidifies what I have been thinking about Prout for some time...he has become soft like Charmin

One of the things i've quietly wondered about since Wiz was traded and the captaincy was finally settled, is that since they elected not to choose a single defenseman as an alternate, which guys back there run the show? Murray is a former captain, but still newish to the room, and Jack Johnson was once the heir apparent to the captaincy shortly after the Nash trade.

Not that the letter on the front matters, but a lack of leadership of the defensemen, by the defensemen always felt like a good explanation for why the group would wilt at times, and flourish at others.

Tyutin has been around for both winning seasons, so he should be able to offer the sagely veteran leadership, but I wonder how much of that he does. If anything, he can act as a translator on the ice for Prout when Bob is swearing at him for screening him on a goal.

For one thing, I don't know if it's safe to assume that there is a lack of leadership from the D. We have no idea about this. Absolutely no clue.

For another, it could be that the club is doing a long-term rebuild of the D and doesn't want to give letters to guys that are going to be traded the moment a better option comes along. Perhaps none of the veteran D are considered core enough to get letters, and their leadership qualities are fine.

I brought up Ryan Murray not being named an A for this exact reason.

Agreed. I could see the FO dumping Murray in the event of a LW being made available.

YOU MEAN Murray is not the answer to our defensive woes?

sorry.. had too after hearing about him all summer long.. boy oh boy has that turned out to be quite the opposite :(

That would be utterly ridiculous. Did you forget your ":sarcasm:"? We have lots of LW's.

I don't think Murray is on the trade block. Not in the slightest. We'll keep him and see what he develops into.
