Interesting read in the Toronto Star. Glad to see the folks at Toronto are pissed at us, that's exactly what we wanted :)

They should adjust to us finishing ahead of them in the standings now why our guys are still young. Just wait til Johansen gets into the prime of his career and is joined by Wennberg, Dano, Rychel, Bjorkstrand, Heatherington, Dansk perhaps, Josh Anderson...need I go on? :naughty:

This is going to be a fun team to support for a long time to come! Anyways, if you want a good laugh check out the article.

Please tell me this is a genius work of satire. Because it is really funny if you take it that way and really sad if it's actually meant to be taken seriously.

Pretty sure it is. The real funny thing is YOU JUST KNOW there's plenty of people near Toronto reading that nodding up and down thinking "Yup, Yup" after every reason listed.

Two reasons why it's good for Columbus to bump Toronto out of the NHL playoffs

  1. The Blue Jackets are a better hockey team than the Maple Leafs, as evidenced by their respective positions in the standings.
  2. Go eat a bag of dicks, Curtis Rush.

CBJ are the least popular team in the NHL in terms of Google search popularity. FIVE MLS teams rank higher than the Blue Jackets (no, the Crew is not one of them). What does this say about our club?

Columbus fans know where to get information about the team instead of googling for random blogs?

I'm kidding, but I honestly can't remember the last time I googled Columbus Blue Jackets.

They're looking at the global search volume which rewards teams with more international followings as well. Plus many CBJ fans don't needs to search Google to find information. Those that do, might not search "columbus blue jackets". If you search "CBJ schedule" in Google, Google displays the schedule. "CBJ Score" shows the current box score. Odds are that search data wasn't included.

According to Google Adwords Keyword Planner, "Columbus Blue Jackets" averages 49,500 searches per month in the US and 60,500 per month globally. "CBJ" averages 8,100 searches per month in the US and 27,000 globally. "Blue Jackets" averages 22,200 searches in the US and 27,100 globally. The way that site calculated things, they might just have looked at the Google trends data for "columbus blue jackets".

Gauging actual fans based on search volume isn't valid either. With the playoff race, probably a lot of people are searching for the Jackets only to find their schedule or research their team's chances make the playoffs. Probably looking specifically at ticket related keywords would show a bigger correlation with fan interest, but that would also favor teams where you can't easily go to Ticketmaster and buy tickets.

With Jenners goal today(14) he is now second in Blue Jackets history for most goals in their rookie season behind the one and only Rick Nash(17)

I was going to make a joke, but then I thought about it, and that's actually really impressive. I'm proud of Boone. Hope he can double that next year!

I was walking to work the other day and saw a guy wearing a CBJ hat (Manhattan). A first for me. Naturally, I gave him a "nice hat!".

On the flip side, the sports bar where I watch when I want to take a break from internet streams has fans of every sports team show up for games. Sundays during football season are forget about it. Every game is on and every team is represented (the Browns contingent actually has quite a reputation). But I'm fairly certain, should the Jackets make the playoffs, I will retain my status as the only CBJ fan in the place. Although if they play tough and even advance some people will probably support them for the fun of it.

Since when do boys or girls from BKLYN go to Manhattan??? Must have been a big date in the city eh... :)

Just kidding, if the Jackets make the post season wear your CBJ hat with pride in the city, they know who the Jackets are but won't admit it... ;)

Well, we ARE the most intelligent city in the United States.
I didn't know about it, but now it's clear why I've felt connected to the city for many years now. And that makes me feel better about the fact that I've always felt myself a least intelligent person among the Columbus residents I've ever knew.

After reading this I feel like I have to start to learn English from the very beginning.

In Moscow, NY or Chicago I would be able to wear my CBJ gear with pride only after the Jackets win the Cup, just making the post season won't cut it anyway.

Ha! I was in Manhattan earlier this week for work and went for a run in Central Park with my CBJ hat. Not sure if it was me you saw unless the guy you saw was wearing running gear.

well, did an intelligent-looking guy say "nice hat!" to you? :sarcasm:

(It wasn't you, it was a guy who didn't appear to understand what was on his head. I imagine you would have been more receptive to my fellow-fan-advances)
