In the 2nd half of the season, Ryan Johansen leads #CBJ with 10 goals. Tied for 2nd...Artem Anisimov & Boone Jenner, each with eight.

Jenner??? Unreal, this bruiser is bound to haunt me....

No offense but that's why you don't make those type of statements about a 20 year old rookie. Here's to hoping for a long successful career for Boone.

I know people will, but I don't know how you could boo the guy reading this:

Q. What do you think the crowd response will be?
A. I’m sure there will be some of both. There will be some boos, but I’m sure there will be some cheers, too. I don’t know if this sounds bad or not, but I’m really excited that the Blue Jackets are doing well and they’re in a good spot (in the standings). The fans deserve it. They’ve been through a lot with 13 seasons and only four playoff games. They’re passionate. They love their hockey, and they deserve what they’re getting now. I always had a tight relationship with (founder) John H. McConnell, and it’s continued with (current majority owner) John P. (McConnell). It’s a good family. They’ve done so much for Columbus, and I’m happy to see them finally get some success out of the team they’ve put so much into.

Q. Any regrets how it ended in Columbus, with the trade request? Do you wish you’d made the move earlier? Do you wish you hadn’t requested a trade? Anything you’d do differently?
A. I have no regrets. I only wish it would have been a smoother exit than how it all went down. I do wish that. I thought it wasn’t done properly. I thought it could have been done a lot better. Other than that … I grew up in Toronto watching the Leafs, an Original 6 team, and all the hype and the arena sold out every night. For me to come to New York and play in MSG … it’s pretty cool. There are definitely some things I miss about Columbus, the city and the organization. I miss some of the guys in the room, the guys around the room, you guys in the media. Everyone there was so nice. I’ll forever miss that, 100 percent. I’m so happy in NY, I just wish the exit was a bit cleaner.

I'm not going to root for the guy, but I'll cheer the tribute if they do one and I definitely won't boo him. He just doesn't deserve it. However ugly it was, I think I've personally swept any bad feelings away along with the changes in the front office.

I agree 100%. I think that most will cheer and you'll hear a few boos. Rick Nash did more for this organization than any other player. He was the only player identified with this organization for a decade. Even when he requested a trade, he knew it would be a catalyst for change for this franchise. He wanted the best for both the team and his career. I thought he handled it as well as he could. Howson in my mind is still the bad guy by making everything public. Nasher deserves recognition for his career here. Be classy Columbus.

I say give him his video tribute and cheers for like 2 minutes. Then take the body to him for 60 minutes on the ice. Friday night better not be a Rick Nash Love Fest. It is a battle and the NYR is a team the CBJ are at war with. Those players who were on the team with him should not give him a single inch. He downplays it in that interview but there are still more people on this team he didn't mention. Such as Jared Boll, RJ Umberger, Fedor Tyutin, Derek Mackenzie and Nikita Nikitin were all here at least 1 full year with him.

I'm not rooting for him to have a good game or anything like that. I hope he gets a 10 and a game in the first minute, frankly. I will applaud any tribute, though.

Foote screwed his team in the middle of a playoff race.

Carter...well...we all know how he acted from literally Day 1.

The situations aren't similar, IMO. Even the Foote and Carter situations are different.

Nash didn't ***** and moan the entire time he was here like Carter. As for Foote, the difference I see is that Nash was the face of the franchise, drafted by the Jackets, whereas Foote was a free agent acquisition. Let's not forget how much Nash did for the community, and the city of Columbus.

If the boos outweigh the cheers, I, personally, will be sincerely disappointed.

Exactly why i see Rychel possibly being Jenner pt2. They play a similar style, both took pretty impressive strides each year they were in JRS and as long as he continues to push himself he could have a similar path Jenner had to the NHL.

As much as it hurt while it was all going down, I can't say I forgive him. I understand why he did it, and I'm glad he did. I will cheer during the video tribute, but after that, he's just an opposing player.

However, I can't say I don't miss him either.

If I saw him on the street or in a bar I'd thank him for his time in Columbus. When he's wearing a NYR jersey in a game that's critical I really could do without a video tribute to him. If that makes me a D-bag so be it.

I'll applaud Nash in his video tribute. The organization had plenty of time to build a winner with Nash involved and that didn't happen. I enjoyed watching Nash play here in Columbus.

Nash asking out was the catalyst for the CBJ to look at itself in the mirror and start making changes for the better.

Yes his was a private whine, not meant for public consumption. I think all of this is sour grapes. For that matter, some (lots?) of the boos could be coming form Ranger fans.

When was that? My recollection is that he privately went to Howson and asked for a trade. Howson made the request public. I don't recall whining from Nash. Perhaps we just have a different recollection, though.

And in between, in fact less than 48 hours before the trade deadline, Nash's agent made some rather pointless comments about how Nash might as well be traded now because "the list" wasn't going to expand at any point in the future.

I said then, I've said since, and I'll say now because I still believe it to be true. This most likely hurt Nash's trade value at the deadline, and Howson most likely made the situation public specifically for the purpose of unloading a full salvo at the Nash camp. It was a calculated move to regain lost leverage, probably by forcing the Nash camp to expand the list due to hurt feelings.

Since my actual opinion of Howson has basically become a caricature at this point, I'll make this much clear. Nash was well within his rights to request a trade; he'd earned that much during his tenure in Columbus. He was within his rights to have a specific list. And he certainly was allowed to have a reasonable expectation that this request was going to remain a private matter until Nash himself felt like explaining it after being moved. Nash's agent (Joe Resnick) was well within his rights to get his client into the most favorable situation, and if that meant publicly commenting to force it to happen, that's what it meant. And Howson was not only within his rights, but charged with the actual duty to do what was best for the franchise as a whole. Nash made the request, Resnick brandished a revolver and challenged Howson to see if it was loaded, and Howson blew up the room. The idea of "burned bridges" rests partially on Resnick's shoulders and mostly on Howson's. And I don't mean "51% mostly", I mean more like 90%.

But at the end of the day, everyone got what they wanted. Nash was traded to an immediately-contending team, Resnick's client ended up in a situation more favorable for endorsements and a higher profile, and Howson was able to completely change the face of the team in a very short period of time. There is no question that everyone ended up in the best situation possible for them, and that the franchise is substantially stronger now than it was then (speaking strictly in terms of the roster, the farm system, and the prospects), and all it cost was five months of time, Howson's image, and Nash's feelings. I call that a bargain.

No, I won't boo Nash. He played the same at the end of his tenure in Columbus as he always had. The same cannot be said for others, and whether you believe that Nash always left something on the table or not, it cannot be disputed that he played the last three months in Columbus like he was expected to, and not like someone looking for an escape. And if Nash's barely-veiled contempt for Howson (as I perceive it from this interview) was even more intense then compared to now, that's another credit to Nash. He gave this city and franchise nine years and re-upped when he was less than a year from being a UFA; I think he's earned a nice round of applause.

My take if I was attending (rather than watching center ice):

I'd cheer the tribute, but if he touches the puck or does well, then yeah I'm going to boo. It's not personal it's entertainment and it's the best player on the other team. It's supposed to be fun.

There are players and environments that thrive off this (go to a U-M game at Yost against MSU and you'll see what I mean). Both teams enjoy it - it's culture. Hell Turco loved being booed when he was in the NHL.

Why should I change entertainment/culture just because Rick's a nice guy and quite respectable? It's almost like giving respect to the player you boo because they are good enough to warrant the attention.

Rick Nash will always win the good guy reward. Booing him would be like kicking a puppy.

No I'll be cheering for him throughout his career. I just hope he lands on another team, at some point, so I might be able to cheer for him if he ends up in the SCF's. Can't cheer for the Rangers.
