The Jackets play their tenth game on Friday. Ryan Murray has played in 9, Boon Jenner in 8. Is there any chance either, or both, would be sent out to avoid their contracts kicking in on the 10th game played? I would think not, certainly, they've proven to me that they belong at this level!

Agreed. Especially with Calvert being hurt there is no way Jenner gets sent down. He's proving he belongs he compliments/fits on just about any line he's thrown on, and Murray can be excel in just about any situation you throw him into. You let these kids decide their own fate in the bigs unless they show otherwise.

The reason I found the question interesting is that it was much discussed in the pre-season. I think both have played so well as to not only render the discussion moot, but positively mute!

I don't think so, they both have played pretty well. Somewhere in the recesses of my mind I think that neither can slide anyway. Jenner is 20 and I think only 18 & 19 yr olds can slide. Murray just turned 20 but may still be too old. There is a bunch of ways age is determined in the new CBA and right now I'm too tired to try and look it up. Tomorrow I will look.

If they were sent down they would't go to juniors anyway. They would have to go to Springfield. Obviously they stay anyway.

We could send Murray to juniors to light it up and score a bajillion points just so HFBoards ranks him the best prospect and everyone on here wants to trade their star player for him.

On an unrelated note, I think I forgot to calibrate my priorities today.

And after the Islanders signed Martinek today there's only two Metropolitan division teams remaining without a former Jacket on the roster.

As to Jenner, there is no alternative to him in the Jackets system. Look at what we are calling up as fill-ins, Collins, Craig and Skille. Unless we are suddenly signing Vinnie (which it seems pretty clear we are not), Jenner is on the team.

I agree. The reason I brought it up is to point out that, unlike our pre-season speculation, there really is no suggestion that either Murray or Jenner will not be part of this team. Seems clear to me that both have show themselves to be NHL ready. It will remain to be seen if they can continue to play at this level as the long season progresses.

Yep, have to watch out for that rookie wall

I wonder if the Olympic break will eliminate the "wall" for the rookies this season. A nice break (for most players) in the middle of Feb. may do that.

If Murray, jenner, johansen, etc can go down to AHL with no waivers, they should send them all down during the break to keep them in shape.

And if they get hurt? I don't know if it is a good idea or not but I kind of like cbjgirl's premise that a break could be refreshing especially to the rookies not used to an 82 (and hopefully +) game season

You could be right on Jenner depending on injuries and how much ice time he is getting between now and then. The other two will get a much needed rest for the stretch run as their roles have been increasing with their continued good play.

What if Gaborik, Tyutin, or JJ get injured during the Olympics? Injuries happen. It's nothing we can't move on from. I want the young guys playing

It would suck if they did but there is nothing to be done to prevent them from playing. With the young guys, its the Jackets option and I for one would rather them rest a bit, especially if we are in the hunt or the playoffs. I think the risk/reward is not great enough to send 'em down.

In fact I would like to see someone try to tell JJ he can't play to protect him from injury. Then I'd help them pick their teeth off the floor. Nobody tells that man he can't play for his country.

Just saw that we actually have the second best goal differential in the division behind only the Pens.
