Borgen is another one.

I don't know what the f*** they were feeding him the first few games.

Since the calendar turned to '25, we're starting to see the guy who some of the nerds said could skate and move the puck.

All the chatter was Drury had targeted him for a long time. I wonder if they talk extension and it makes Mancini available. Schneider they clearly aren’t trading.

And not for nothing but Schneider had been much better playing with Vaakanainen. I never notice Vaak good or bad which is just about the best thing you can say about a 6D. I know if he was really playing badly because Sam would be moving up his retirement having to say his name all the time.

@will1066 I think this is the Borgening of a beautiful friendship

I'm a little confused since it seems for a while they seemed to be pretty good at shutting teams down like they did last game we played. What 12 shots on goal? We weren't the only team to have that happen to us against them. But what I saw today they looked nothing like that. For f***'s sake we even dominated OT which never happens, even last year it seemed like our OT record was a bit of a fluke because we got great goaltending in OT.

I think they are a much better defensive team than they’ve been but Keefe loves to overplay random bottom 6 guys. Hughes is a PP merchant. They are more highly skilled but equally as soft as us in the top 6. Their team is built well to win with markstrom and I can seem them going to the ECF.

Long story short they remind me of the rangers of the previous few years. They aren’t good enough to beat Florida or a heavy western team.

pretty lol at Carrick scoring an OT game winner

The Kaliyev-Brodz-Berard line wasn't particularly good in what I saw but that's not surprising...two guys who haven't established themselves as regulars and a AAAA guy is more like a 4th line. They had trouble breaking the puck out all night and while it wasn't totally their fault (lotta meh passes from the defense to start a breakout) they just weren't able to do a lot. A puck carrier like Chytil is a huge difference maker on a line like that

Vaakanainen is an NHL player which, like the 4th line, is saying a lot for a 6D in this league.

So many depth players are ass in this league. We're not the only team that's been obsessed over the years with guys that look like they're trying.

That's one very clear thing Drury is a million times better at than Gorton.

Guys like Carrick, Smith, Vaakanainen, Gustafsson, Mikkola, and Brodzinski could tie bullshit like McLeod, Haley, Lemieux, Rooney, and Hajek in knots.

Even Sammy Blais was an NHL player at the time, the trade just sucked as a whole.

Im at the point where I’d like to give Schneider-Fox a look and just spot Lindgren the occasional shift until we figure out wtf we’re going to do.

It should be Jones but Lavi has made up his mind there.

I dunno that I really love Vaakanainen and Borgon but yeah I guess two bottom pair guys is better than two 7th D playing

Absolutely not. Once he had his list on July 1st the situation was exactly the same as it was the day he was traded. In the summer, Drury seemed to back down to Trouba's agent, plus the public perception that he was doing him dirty because of his wife's job situation. Looking back, Drury shit the bed on that move...I'm sure he would tell you the same if he was ever forthcoming.
I thought I read during the summer that things would be different during the season but I don't trust my memory. Regardless Driry moved 2 guys contracts that many on the board said were unmovable so I can't complain about the timing. NHL players need to be a bit tougher than that.

They haven’t been sunk by this stretch against good teams, which was the narrative coming in. It’s been their best 5 game stretch “process”-wise since the very beginning of the season

The problem is they needed to do more than not sink.

They were sunk by the stench against mostly bad competition before that. If they beat Vegas they will have traded water over what will be end of a very tough 11 game stretch which certainly isn’t bad results wise. If they lose it’ll be another 2 games under .500 which is not the end of the world, but they needed to make up more than that, ditto if they actually go .500.
