I can only imagine how many people would be yelling fire the coach if Carrick and Smith were on in OT and NJ scored. Who had predicted that outcome? Well done men!

By the way the team has been putting some points together lately despite playing with 3 different goalies.

Deserved to win this one.

Really tempted to bump that one Luke Hughes thread that devil homer started after he had like 10 good games. He's followed them up by being ass for like a month.

And with 14 million in unused cap space between Trouba and Kreider

Drury made moves to get out of two bad contracts. Could he have handled the interpersonal part of his job better? Probably. But I'm sorry I hold the millionaires quitting on their job accountable not their boss. This isn't a dick boss at the office against whom a bunch of guys making 60k a year quit. These guys are making millions.
I have ZERO issue with how callous Drury was...in fact I wanted him to be even more cutthroat. His mistake had nothing to do with the way he handled Goodrow, it was the way he let the Trouba situation fester into December. He should've played hardball immeditately once the season ended & made the threat of waivers that he made in-season.

He also should've NEVER resigned Lindgren. The time to pull the plug was over the summer so he could've signed an actual NHL defensemen.

So here is the thing. Probably going to get my head bashed in but Mika had a very good game.

That give away on the blue line might have looked bad but objectively that was a horrible pass from Fox. They even talked about it on the broadcast.

With a little luck he could have had at least two goals tonight.
He's certainly been back to being a real contributor the last few games.

As much as people get on him (some warranted, some not, you know where I stand), he was never "oh my god this guy SUCKS" until earlier this year.

It helps this team a ton to at least get the NHL version of him which I do believe is still in there. Shooting more has helped.

Agreed on all accounts but we have what seems like at least 30% of the people legit upset at Drury for being too cutthroat. The millionaires quit the second one of the cushiest jobs in the world (athlete in NYC) got a little less than 100% comfortable. And somehow it's the fault of the guy that made their job less comfortable rather than the divas.

Was the contract trade list situation different during the season than in the offseason?

As bad as the 6 year deal was for Goodrow, 3 years at 1 mill for carrick is the opposite. He has made Edstrom and Cuylle better players and will go with anyone. He also has enough hands to at least get the puck through the neutral zone. I enjoyed him going at markstrom. that was an absolutely huge goal for us at this point in the season.

I won’t lie, I’m torn. I obviously want to win and compete for a cup.

However I still think this team isn’t good enough to win. Part of me wants to lose ever my game at this point.

Absolutely not. Once he had his list on July 1st the situation was exactly the same as it was the day he was traded. In the summer, Drury seemed to back down to Trouba's agent, plus the public perception that he was doing him dirty because of his wife's job situation. Looking back, Drury shit the bed on that move...I'm sure he would tell you the same if he was ever forthcoming.

I don't like to root for losses, but you just know this team is gonna finish 2 points out of a playoff spot & right in the soft middle. Just low enough to pick a tweener RW who won't suit up for the team until 2028.

For a 4th liner, this is pretty lit, actually.

4th liners are absolutely miserable in this league.

Carrick can skate. He was a superstar in junior hockey and in the AHL. He has professional skill. It's revolutionary for his type of player.
