Injury Report: Injury Thread Pt. II (Del Zotto has surgery to repair sports hernia)

God I hope not. Give up another 2nd rounder if he does. Terrible trade.

Dealing for Clowe was just flushing draft picks down the toilet. It's really like they gave up three second rounders if they re-sign Clowe because Florida's third rounder is pick 61.

Exactly.

A Glen Sather deadline special.

I never understood that transaction.
Even though I like Clowe, what does liking a player's past achievements have to do with it? Where is the clear minded judgement, the realization of what fits, and when?

I have been waiting for Sather to go away for many years, but it seems this type of thing just continues.
Too bad.

Eh. I liked the Clowe trade. We probably gave up a little too much but whatever. I think if he wasn't hurt a lot of you would be singing a different tune.

Now should we resign him is another questioon....

It only depends if he is willing to take a one year deal or not. If the answer is no: I wouldn't resign him.

Staal is damaged goods. We have to hope he rests up well and good and everything's close as normal as can be for 4 and a half months from now.

The season's over...

Well, guess what? I win because he IS hurt a lot.

And the crappy part is, how does anybody make a real call on a contract offering? A fair bit of gambling ther, and certainly not worth getting to any kind of bidding war over. Then again, maybe he does not want long term at $4 mil plus per year, as I heard he might be looking for.
Still kind of risky.

Even at a 1 year deal, as many are saying, you have to give up another 2nd rounder if you resign him at this point. **** that, let him walk. Goes down as one of the worst Sather trades in a while. Give up those prospects for what, 10 or so games? :shakehead

Stop being results oriented.

Stop being results oriented.

So your comfortable giving up 2 2nd round picks and a 3rd rounder (which is essentially another 2nd at #61) in a deep draft for a guy who played 12 games here? Not to mention his injury history, likely sustaining 2 concussions. Im sorry but that is just a terrible way to manage an organization.

If Clowe didn't get injured it would've been a great trade.

Good process, awful results.

Just like a lot of things that happen to this franchise.

I don't know if it would've been. I know he put up some points, but he looked really ineffective in a lot of his games. He's another slow guy. He's another guy who's really not a finisher. And he's clearly moving away from his prime. We gave up a ton of draft picks for an aging rental in a year where we just didn't have the roster to make a cup run.
