Eh. I think we can all agree that at his core, Terry is a fan.

The reality is, he's a 73 years old with a disabled wife, owns a NFL team, NHL team, professional lacrosse team, AHL team, and his daughter is a professional tennis player. He has plenty to keep him busy without blinking twice about the Sabres. But...the Sabres are also his baby in a lot of ways.

NFL combine starts in 2 weeks and NFL free agency starts march 12 and NFL draft is April 24th.

Assuming this year plays out how we assume, Terry is likely going to be in town for the last two home games of the season. Toronto is one game....Philly is the other. Toronto is going to be a packed house regardless...but....A wide spread boycott of the last home game, which is also fan appreciation night, probably would be enough to get Adams fired. Video of all the fan stuff playing to an empty arena would go viral pretty quick. If you make enough of a stink about Adams, you can probably get him to say something snarky about the fans in his end of the season press conference too. If you can get the attention of some of the talking heads on twitter to talk about it...it would be embarrassing for the team, which the Pegulas do not like.

For the cost of a few billboards and some online marketing with an angry fan base, you could easily push the needle enough to get the Pegula family attention.

Why would anyone waste their money on a billboard? So Pegula will fire Adams and hire some other clown within the organization?

Pegula is the problem. Until he’s gone it won’t matter.

Even if Adams does get fired, the primary job requirement will continue to be keeping Terry informed and involved on a daily basis.

No experienced, capable GM will sign on to that demeaning silliness. And what is the likelihood that another green-as-grass, obedient Pegula hire will prove to be competent?

We'll see what happens after this miserable season ends, but there is little reason to be hopeful.

This is the over-arching truth. The ceiling for this franchise is somehow everything going perfect and them snagging a wild card spot only to get decimated in 4 games in round 1. This is going to hold true until Pegula is no longer physically capable of actively managing/owning this team.

IF Adams gets fired (Pegula will seize on any excuse or optimism to retain him), they are going to promote from within, almost certainly.... and I would bet Adams just gets elevated to a higher position anyways.

Even if they went scorched earth, fired Adams, and looked outside, they are going to need to hire someone with no experience or GM prospects, desperate enough to allow Terry "to be heard". No GM with any clout, credibility, or dignity is going to sign on for this job.

I would say we are probably stuck with Ruff for life now in some facet of the organization. I'm not a fan of that either, as I think he is highly overrated as a coach here, and also has zero front office experience... and frankly, he has a long NHL career of losing.
Appert is going to be the next head coach and he will be given 2-3 years.

It is soooo depressing being a Sabres fan.

This is so infuriating. This team is not good, the players are underperforming, we will probably end up with the 7-8 pick which wont impact the team for 2-3 years. You can see the holes in the team. Adams has made no attempt to improve the defense which is destroying UPL and Levi when they play.
Its been 5 years of Adams and we have Gilbert, Bryson and Joker in the lineup. We watch defensemen after defensemen get traded and waived with Adams doing nothing. I can understand not being able to get a top 6 center but not bringing in defense and RHD is unacceptable. If we did our jobs like this we would be fired.

Is Adams the GM and if so where is the accountability?
Is Pegula the GM and thus there is no point in investing energy in the team until Pegula sells the team?

What's sad is we don't even know if Adams will be fired after missing the playoffs for 5 years. How to hold the players accountable when management is not held accountable.

Pegs will need Kevyn from accounting more than anything with the cap going up. I think we could see Kevyn continue or get promoted. I don't think he'll be fired.
No one wastes more money than Kevyn Adams. He’s paying tens of millions to finish last.

They couldn’t do worse with a f***ing monkey pulling names out of a goddamned hat

Cause he’d still have them, at worst, in last.

I don’t think this gets enough attention. If you are going to field a team this bad, anything other than a penny over the cap floor is a waste. Any argument that KA is doing what TP wants needs to be measured against that fact. In other words he is not efficient nor economical. He is wasting your money Terry, fire him.

This is spot on....Make a list off all the fringe NHL players he has signed over 5 years and its probably 20-30 million.

Why not just sign a top 6 and a top 4 player.

Random thought: Our organization is clearly incapable of evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of it's own players so how can they be expected to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of potential trade targets/UFA's and not completely screw it up?
hopefully ruff but you are correct

FIRE ADAMS as we need creativity and paranoia from a GM if league is against us..

This speaks to the small scouting staff. Teams who hire more and better scouts will have the best teams in the long run. We have the worst, so we'll be the worst in the long run (already at this point).

Can anyone believe Kevin Devine is still with the org? The guy has provided the seeds to 3 failed rebuilds.

We're on a REALLLLLLL linear stretch right now.

If "success" is on the y-axis and "time" is on the x-axis......our line and the x-axis are the exact same thing.

I agree.
But Adams and Pegula wrote that to STH last year so it made me feel better.

not at all.

I wonder what the letter is going to say this time (soon) when the renewal notices and likely price increases come out

Careful what you wish

Rasmus Dahlin to the Flames for MacKenzie Weegar and Nazem Kadri (half salary retained) — Greg R.

The Sabres say no to this deal.

Weegar and Kadri are the types of players the Sabres could use. Weegar would bring a needed physical edge to the blue line, and Kadri would be an upgrade at center in the top six. But to me, trading Dahlin should be off the table. Since putting his injury behind him, Dahlin has been a difference-maker for the Sabres. He’s signed long-term and turns 25 in April. I believe his best years are still in front of him. He’s also the captain and seems deeply invested in turning this team around. Trading the best and youngest player in a deal is not a formula for climbing out of the rut the Sabres are in.

That meme needs to be updated from merely doing something to doing something smart that moves the team forward.
