Roy hasn't done anything with Wilson or Hunwick.

Schenn is a waste of assets given how far along the Avs forwards and goaltending are, and how poorly Schenn has played.

Wilson's career as an effective player is probably over due to injuries, and Hunwick has no business being in the NHL.

Conversely, Nick Holden and Nate Guenin are every night players; Erik Johnson and Jan Hejda are a formidable top pair a year after the former scored 0 goals and the latter was a healthy scratch at times.

So why do you want a deadweight player to take the spot of every night players like Holden and Guenin, especially at 4 times the cost.

With Sarich and Benoit as free agents, and Wilson highly unlikely to make an impact next season, Colorado probably needs another defenseman.

If they aren't going to pay up the nose for someone, a guy like Schenn - who despite you calling him dead weight is still decent depth and a good pker - isn't a bad option.

There will be much better options on the free agent market than Schenn.

Rumor Rene bourque could be coming to avs. Us or kings.

$3.33 million cap hit for two years AFTER this one. 32 year-old one dimensional scorer with 12 points in 50 games.

Better players, yes. But most of them are old (Timonen, Boyle, Zidlicky) or will end up going to the highest bidder (Niskanen).

Like I said, if the Avs aren't looking to break the bank but want to add another young guy to the defensive pool, Schenn isn't a bad option giving his perceived trade value.

But he still takes up salary, cap space, and a roster spot, while not offering much in return.

Insurance this year, and gives him a chance to show us something. If not, hello compliance buyout and hello no lose situation

Insurance for what exactly? ****** one-dimensional play?

Even with compliance buyout option it is not a good idea to start stockpiling bad contracts...who knows what the future holds and who we would be needing to use those on. And they aren't a salve for ****** contracts.

To buy out Bourque after this season would still mean a cap hit of $1.67 million for 14-15 and 15-16 and would EXTEND a cap hit of almost a million for a further two seasons. We would be paying for him until 2018 if we bought him out.

So you don't know what a compliance buyout is then. Not only can it not be used ever after this season, but there's no cap penalty if used.

Colorado is paying Ryan Wilson and Cory Sarich over 4 million combined this season, both in cap space and salary. If they can comfortably afford both guys, as well as their roster spots, I think Schenn's 3.6 million annual salary won't be an issue with the cap going up in 2015.

Hmmm, yes in my anti-Bourque rage I seem to have conveniently left that out. You win.

I still don't want him near this team.

Wilson wasn't brought in by the current regime, and Sarich was brought in as part of a trade that sent two bad contracts the other way.

If we could trade a bad contract for Schenn sure, but to bring one in needlessly is counter productive.

When Bourque played with a bit of fire for Calgary he was good. Physical and a good scorer. But that was five years ago and he looks like he doesn't particularly care most nights.
