Good, Samsonov is the ONLY reason this team isn't #1 in the Atlantic and possibly the east.

If Samsonov was even an 890, Which would still be a problem because anything under 900 is a problem.

But even if Samsonov had been an 890 they would have 8-12 more points.

At 862 Samsonov IS the problem

Not saying he is going crazy... but seems like he needs to get his head right...

if it's all mental then send him on a 2 week vacation somewhere and I mean this seriously to get away from hockey so that he's not even thinking about it. then get him back into practice with the Marlies for a couple of weeks to get back into shape and or work on some of his game and then give him 3-4 games down there and see how he does.

Confidence is one of those things. Once you lose it, so hard to get it back

I suspect he'll be our backup during playoffs. I am not fully convinced that he totally forgot to play. He needs few good games to get him going again

Hope he can regain his confidence, not because I want him back on the leafs but for him to continue playing in NHL

This season, unless Hildeby plays lights out, I think you'll see Woll and Jones once Woll returns. I think Jones would be claimed if they tried to send him down. This is barring Samsonov miraculously finding his game again. At which point, they might have to waive Jones (or trade him).

So I don’t often find myself agreeing with you, but here I do.

I thought last year Sammy looked like he was on his way and tracking to solidifying himself as a #1 goalie. I didn’t think he was there yet, but he sure seemed like he has heading that way.

I hope he gets back on track with some conditioning away from the spotlight.

Out of curiosity, at the end last year, if you’re Treliving and just arrived, with where things were at, at THAT time, what would you have done with Samsonov contract wise?

Referring to next season? Jones is obviously still in the running for the here and now. Although your suggestion sounds like it'd be an inexperienced tandem, we'll first have to see how much of an opportunity is given to Hildeby for however long this current run lasts.

I do not see Samsonov returning. I think he has played his last game with the Leafs.

I doubt they would do anything with it from a trade perspective. I think they will bring Samsonov back up at some point.
