Wasting a 1st overall sure as heck affected the Islanders ability to compete. You can bring up Laf and KK but those guys were the consensus picks at that spot, DP was a reach and a surprise and it really stung them for a generation

We are talking about the buy out here, right? Not the draft pick.

Advanced metrics may say otherwise but for me it’s still Jagr in 05-06. Bias probably but he was such a beast that year. Regardless we are beyond spoiled going for the king to shesty.
What a season. That Nylander, Straka, Jagr line is my favorite Ranger line of all time. I expected them to score every shift. Nylander is by far my favorite “cup of coffee” Ranger.

He did more with less that season than any other Rangers player I've ever seen. He was still fresh off being on the receiving end of a lot of hate for his time with the Capitals and the Rangers were projected to be AWFUL that year after how they performed in 03-04 before the lockout. Jagr said before the season started he thought the team was going to make the playoffs and they did.

So, actually first because those old stats don’t count eh?

Plante's numbers aren't official since the NHL didn't start tracking saves officially until 1954 (I think). But manually calculating it based on box scores on the Flyers Hockey Summary project, Plante's sv% in his first 80 is .932

My comment was somewhat tongue in cheek, but I have a hard time putting any stock into O6 stats for many reasons.

Suffice it to say that Jacques Plante would get lit up like a Christmas tree in a modern NHL game.

What if he was allowed to use the gigantic pads and blockers current goalies wear.

how would current goalies do playing with no friggin’ mask?

His family is in Russia I think. This sh*t can really impact Igor's mental state. He's got to be scared and concerned.

I would assume it's mostly meant to improve cardio. Which you can definitely see in the video. Lots of side stepping and arm motions.

They certainly do not. Jagr is one of the best possession players (advanced stats wise, anyway) in the recorded history of hockey.
