If we dont get Tavares - how about Ryan OReilly

Maybe not bust then but I do recall people saying he wasn't the player we thought we drafted in the burke days. Shanny takes over and Babcock and he has his 2 best years and a great defensive center to boot..his two way game back in the burke days suckes

Ron Wilson hated Kadri and once Randy Carlyle was the coach he made the team for good. Under Babcock and given more responsibility he has thrived, he has also matured but never was he considered a bust.

He was the most mistreated draft pick we have had in recent years and developed dispite his mistreatment. Shanny was the one who turned him around as he suspended him and spoke to him about wanting him to become a mature player and a fixture as a Leaf and to Kadri’s credit he grew up.

Once again, Ryan O'Dollars isn't worth the assets that would be required to get him OR the money you would have to pay him, and he's a selfish prick who's perfectly willing to lose games if it gives him a chance to pad his stats. Guy's been horribly overrated from the minute he arrived in the NHL.
But hey, who else thinks we need a $7.5 million third line center? After all, he gets you 10 whole points more than Bozak at $4.1 (overpaid, according to most) and the same as Kadri at $4.2... Clearly those points are worth an additional $3 million, right?
 
Honestly, if we don’t get Tavares, and Babs doesn’t want Nylander at C, I’m cool with just resigning Bozak and sticking Johnsson and Kapanen, two defensively responsible wingers, on his sides.

You do realize he's a top-5 defensive forward in the league that puys up 60 point right? He can also play LW even though he's an amazing C.

So you wouldn't pay 3 more mill than Bozak to get a C that would be our best defensive forward + put 10-20 more points?

We could play him LW beside Matthews, Kadri or Nylander (if he goes C), and we really need LW seeing how we only have Johnsson, Hyman, Grundstrom compared to Marner, Nylander (if he doesn't go to C) Kapanen, Brown, Bracco, Timashov on the other side.

Let’s hope they can’t move him....let them have that cap hit when their trying to sign Dahlin in 3 years.
 
If Boz is resigned they need to give him more impactful wingers, otherwise they are the say team that lost in the 1st round. I don't see where the upgrade is coming from.
 
Bozak just seems and plays a small game good face off man but no pysical, not the best on forecheck, seems to go through the motions uninspired like JVR, when they are not scoring they are invisible no grit or extra dig for that puck battle

The ability to play LW for a natural C isn't an up sell.

O'Reilly is that awkward middle ground between a fairly ineffective C in Bozak and a superstar in Tavares. I'd rather go full out to get the superstar than to pay a premium on ROR.

Henrik Zetterberg !? A natural C that played LW whenever Babcock wanted him to. It's definently a positive.

ROR puts up similar or more points than Kadri and is much better defensively. He isn't in an awkward middle ground between Bozak and Tavares. He's in the middle ground between Bergeron and Kadri, which is amazing.
 
He's big and good on the draws. an Olympian and a two way player, not a bad consolation prize.
 
If we don't land Tavares, I'd trade for ROR depending on the package required. Dangle was discussing this on his podcast and threw out Johnsson, 2019 1st and 2019 2nd.

I don't think that gets it done, but as a starting point I would do that in a heartbeat. Doesn't help the D position, but definitely helps the team defense. One of the best faceoff men in the league, if not THE best.

I think Hank evolved from a LW to a C, like if Andreas Johnsson eventually morphed into an elite two way center. Not an elite two way center who can also be demoted to the wing...

No, he was like Nylander. A natural center for his whole life before NHL, then played on the wing for the first 5 years of his NHL career. Then went back to center for the rest of his career while also taking shifts on the wing when needed.

Regardless, I don't understand the issue. You're concerned over what? You don't want ROR on our team, a two-way legitmate 1C, playing LW for us occassionally?

Not at his cap hit plus assets required to trade for him. Nope.
 
Nah J.T. is better and free that’s why it makes sense to add him to our team. We gotta get rid of someone good to get ROR, and if we are gonna trade someone good it’d make more sense that we get. A d back
