So Yohe using Sid's quote as some sort of "proof it's not the system" is stupid. Ask Sid whether he thinks DeSmith's goaltending is costing them games and I bet he'll give a definite "No, we have to be better in front of him" response.
If Yohe actually used Sid's quote in that context, I would agree with you. But apparently you didn't read it, because that isn't what happened. The very next line : "Sullivan was asked whether this is merely a problem with the Penguins or whether the coaching staff needs to take some blame, too. He didn’t hesitate to accept some accountability. “It starts with me,” Sullivan said. “I have to do a better job of coaching these guys.” A paragraph later, he writes "This kind of stuff just can’t keep happening, and yet it does. It’s unprofessional. It’s an indication of low hockey IQ. And, frankly, it doesn’t make the coaching staff look all that great, either. It’s well beyond the point of being a broken record."
I've been accused of being a Yohe apologist which is bullshit. Making up criticisms that support one's position without context or reading the article is also bullshit.
You're spot-on with the "we have to be better in front of him" bet. Sid is that kind of guy. The closest he ever gets to pointing fingers is using the word "we". I respect his class and respect of others given some of the situations he's endured the past 18 years.
So I got some tacos, studied some accounting, had a couple of drinks.
Wife and I watched "The Menu" which actually depicts how I feel about this entire team.
Made a martini. Beefeater and Lillet Blanc.
Then I watched this game, sped up on FuboTV. It was so bad that I could only stomach like 23 minutes of game action. Kept waiting for us to not be terrible; it didn't happen.
Interesting film. Did you identify as one of "us", or one of "them"? Too bad you had to bookend that film with accounting and then the Sharks game. Bet the martini helped dull the senses at least. ;-)
