If it's not Jack Campbell who should be the Leafs new #1 goalie?

The I-hate-dubas cult works off a special calendar - 365 days of whining.
Some are actually pissed off this arrogant bunch of rookie losers are wasting years away. Not sure what people are expecting with this teams playoff record. Good for you if you're happy - I expected more and I'm sure Dubas did too

Dubas looking at Matt Murray a washed up goaltender. Leaf will never win with Dubas running this team. That is realty. He is doing the exact same thing he did with Anderson. Anderson played really good with the Hurricanes and Campbell where ever he lands will do real good too and the Leafs will choke worse with Murray in their net.

Whining - yeah what's to cpmplain about with decades of failure only to have hope destroyed by a rookie GM who is in over his head. How about not trusting this to go any further with this regime. How about expecting one f***ing playoff round win with AM?!
Oh right 115 points what an I thinking?!

So why is it that goalies come here, and stink...but these same goalies go elsewhere, and become good?

I just noticed that no one on the leafs is signed for more than 3 more years except for Reilly. And only 2 players signed for more than 2 years (Marner and Tavares). Everyone else is 2 years or less!!

This team could look way way different after 2 more seasons.

Indeed. It's like every thread is the same - no matter what the subject is, it's a tiresome whine fest.
Yes, just like after every unsuccessful first round playoff exit, we get to hear the Dubas defenders give us excuses about how the failure wasn’t Dubas’s fault and that next year will be different.

This year excuses were that; we were robbed by the refs, there is a flat salary cap and, the idea that we actually started in the conference finals as we had to face TB in the opening round.

How much do you want to spend on goalies? If they can get both for five I am in lol but that isn’t happening.
I meant it more as an extension of the Soo connection. Don't believe that Keefe and Campbell were there at the same time though.

I'm hoping we get Matt Murray with 50% retention + Alex Formenton. He can replace Mikheyav.

Alex also had 101 hits last season. 49 more than Mikheyav

CJ’s NHL draft week rumblings: Big decisions await Leafs, Oilers - NorthStar

That leaves only Campbell and Darcy Kuemper as potential 50-game starters among a thin free-agent class at the position.

Dubas has been active in gauging his alternative options on the trade market — inquiring on Ottawa's Matt Murray and Minnesota's Cam Talbot, among others — but he made Campbell sound like the first priority before leaving the Bell Centre.

He labelled the trade discussions as “information gathering.”

“You get a good sense of where the market’s at, where it’s going, and who is available. What the cost is going to be in trade,” Dubas said. “Now we’ll work through our own situation with Jack and then, if it gets to that point, we’ll work the situation with the remaining free agents.”

The Oilers have conducted their due diligence on Campbell and are believed to consider him a priority in free agency. They’ve also cleared considerable cap space and can offer a big opportunity with Mikko Koskinen having moved on to Switzerland and Mike Smith unlikely to play next season.

They may even be willing to extend a five-year offer at $5 million or more per season.

Toronto and Edmonton must both be ready to pivot in the event Campbell signs elsewhere. Kuemper is the next best option, but there seems to be growing sentiment that his eyes are on Washington after helping Colorado win the Stanley Cup last month.

.................

Murray is believed to be open to joining either the Leafs or Oilers via trade, but his $6.25-million cap hit and lengthy injury history are red flags. The Senators were willing to retain 25 per cent of that charge in a trade with Buffalo that got nixed, according to sources. But even at that reduced price, the 28-year-old two-time Stanley Cup champion carries risk.

It’s not yet clear what will come of Talbot.

His agent, George Bazos, met with Wild GM Bill Guerin on Friday and isn’t believed to be happy with the prospect of a Fleury/Talbot tandem in the final season of his client’s contract. But Guerin pushed back with reporters when it was suggested that the situation may be coming to a head.

Haven't forgotten that Matt Murray looked like a complete mess last season. Seems like a worthwhile reclaimation project for some organization but is that what the Leafs want to take on at this stage?
It unfortunately might be the best of their seemingly limited choices at this point.

Unless Dubas finally recognizes he needs to make a bigger move using one of his bigger assets.

Due the love of former Soo players its seems the odds on favorite is that Matt Murray will be a Leaf.

Mind explaining what happened with McCann since this narrative is being said over and over again and it's not based on fact.

It's nothing more than the usual mess.....nothing to say but a shit ton of megabytes wasted anyway - and none of it factually correct.
