If it's not Jack Campbell who should be the Leafs new #1 goalie?

100% fine with Mrazek to start the season if he falters you have to give Woll 10-15 games to see if he can get it going like they did with Kallgren. With Mrazek's injury history it could be Woll and Kallgren for much of the season.

If that's is the case we will be lucky to get 90 points

Interesting too that Friedman mentions it’s a lot of the “old school” coaches having success right now. Is it okay to say that or will the theorem crowd get triggered? Hockey will always be a pretty simple game.

Cooper
Bodnar
Gallant
Woodcraft
Brind'Amour
Brunette

Yeah....nope, Elliot.

Mrazek has already proven he doesn't have the guts to do it he's got to go

Lehner with his mental health issues wouldn’t be a good fit for toronto

I agree

What has John Gibson accomplished in Anthiem, even when they had a real good team. Has he taken them to a deep Playoff run? No, he hasn't. Remember when Gibson and Anderson were a tandem and the Leafs traded for Anderson. Both were on equal playing level and how did it work out fro the Leafs? Campbell played good enough to win and he wasn't the reason why the Leafs didn't advance.
This is revisionist history. Anaheim was clearly sold at the younger Gibson with a higher ceiling as Anderson was getting traded no matte what.

Otherwise fair take.

This is the guy, I'm telling you guys if he ends up here he's the guy.

I've lived in the west since 2007 I have seen this dude play WAY more than the average Leaf fan

This is the guy

if he ends up here you are going to LOVE him.

I'm starting to think you've got a bit of a man crush on him.

Mike palmateer
Alan Bester as backup

he was literally the 2nd best in both series, because he lost both series

he's not good enough to close out a series he's 0-5 in games where he can close out a series the past 2 years

and he's allowed 3 goals on just 8 shots in OT the past 2 years

he's not the guy

What's Gibson's playoff record? Oh, wait....................

I'm very curious as to how this is going to play out and who might be Leafs starting goalie next year if its not Campbell.

If Dubas believes Mrazek is the answer the player he gave a 3 year $3.8 mil contract, who with an injury history played in 14 games in 2020-21 and 20 games in 2021-22, I would be shocked.

With Vasilevskiy showing how important goaltending is to playoff success. this should really be Leafs #1 priority to lock up a proven #1 goalie long-term and build from the goalie out going forward.

Holy crap, why didn't I think of this?!?!?! Must be at least ten teams willing to trade us their proven #1 goalie at a reasonable cost.

Great tenders are drafted and then developed .. and it can take a long time to develop them .. trading for 1 is extremely hard to do .. tenders who can still win Cups don't get traded often unless a Roy like situation or a guy near end of his rope on a huge CAP deal .. of course da one f*ck up is a Leaf screw up Rask where mgr picked wrong drafted guy .. Woll might become our guy .. he has da raw size and athletics

Then let's not give up on Ian Scott.

I want to go get gibson but ducks fans are stupid for thinking they are getting our top prospect, Lilly a first and a second. Like no! I would do our first this draft and kerfoot. That's it. If we need to area another pick round three or higher to push the deal over the line than fine. That's it.

Assuming it's not Campbell? I think there's a chance Mrazek gets the net at the start of the year. If he's healthy, then there isn't an easy way out of that contract this offseason. And I think he could still be a contributor. People are writing him off too quickly because of the cap situation.

My preference would be a Gibson trade. But I don't think that's as easy as it sounds, either. So maybe Varlamov? I don't know.

Man, I hate the goalie carousel. I hate it so, so much.

I assume we'll get someone, no way will we start the season with Mrazek as the #1. We'll get someone, if not a quality #1 then at minimum, another tandem goalie. I do agree that Mrazek could still be a contributor, in fact I'd say it's likely. People here have knee jerk reactions to everything, it's beyond ridiculous.

My dream is that we trade for a #1 goalie, I'm just afraid that we'd have to move Nylander to get it done and Dubas is too stubborn to move him. I hope I'm wrong though, I really do because I hate the goalie carousel as much as anyone.

I'd agree with all of this. Another tandem goalie is totally possible. My concern there is if you grab someone to split time with Mrazek, then you're probably married to the tandem for this season, at least. Where as Mrazek being the "starter" with just a couple backup options leaves the door open to in-season changes or improvements.

That's true but trading for a goalie during the season will probably be a lot tougher then doing it in the summer.
