If it's not Jack Campbell who should be the Leafs new #1 goalie?

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Hard to say what Gibson’s head space is like in a high pressure playoff game since he’s been on a rebuilder all these years.

He's unfortunately only had one deep playoff run in his career too.

Not exactly reassuring if the team is expected to give up something of semi-value for him

It's not a good place to be but dubas has shown the ability to get rid of bad contracts.
I'm still secretly holding my breath for Gibson
Well if we don't get Jack, Gibson sounds like about the only other possibility. At least I haven't heard about anyone else that might be available. But ANA knows how desperate we are so if they're smart, they'll hold out for a massive haul. I have no idea what he might cost, a 1st and a 2nd + Knies maybe? Does that sound about right? Is that a better option then signing Jack at 5x5?

My observation, but I don't think Gibson is likely to get "a massive haul." Flat cap, big money players makes big trades difficult to consummate, cap numbers tricky to swap and increases organizational risk. That's why the Jakob Chychrun reported blockbuster is so stuck.

If were giving up futures for Gibson, isn't that a pretty straightforward transaction? If what I mentioned is too much, what do you think Gibson might cost us?

Honestly I don't know. I think his value might be down since he's had a few bad years statistically.
I wouldn't want to give knies up, but I can see sandin going. Not sure what the add would be if needed, I don't see a 1st. That said I'm not so good at trade value assessment

I have a feeling it would cost more than that, I really don't know though and obviously I hope I'm wrong but yeah, I feel like that won't be enough to get it done, especially if it gets to the point where all the UFA goalies have signed elsewhere and the whole world knows how desperate we are.

It appears it has quieted on the aquireing Matt Murray front
The Leafs were just poking around. Perhaps if Murray is bought out, there might be interest, or maybe if there is retention and or a sweetner on the any deal. Right now the rumour is that the Leafs are poking around.

Indeed, can't overcome shady reffing though.

Sorry, as you were. I'm quite bitter about it and I hope Dubas, Shanny and the rest of the Leaf brass are too. It was a tragedy in sports terminology.

"To lose in the first round, or not to lose in the first round. That is the question"

Shakespeare's long lost brother was a shady referee on the side.

The good thing about Matt Murray is that it should be the end of Dubas. Especially when Campbell posts a 0.920 this year with his new team.
If Campbell posts a .905 with a possible new team and Murray posts a .930 with possibly the Leafs would Dubas get an extension?

They will be stationed next to the "We can and we will" tee shirts.
No one will buy them now. They are from a few years ago when Dubas needed to re-sign their to RFAs l. He did that already. Now, some didn't like the price, but he did what he said he would do.

I was reading some proposals on Twitter saying Nylander and Holl for Gibson with retention and comtois with Ana adding a pick.
No idea if that's a fair trade but I wouldn't want to use Nylander for that. If we don't re sign Campbell we need to get a goalie though.
