If it's not Jack Campbell who should be the Leafs new #1 goalie?

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
I'm thinking a Mrazek buyout might be the best option to free up some cap space for a new #1 goalie.

As I was pulling into work I heard Kevin Weekes was reporting MAF signed a 1 yr deal in Minni. Haven't seen anything concrete yet, but that really sucks if true.

edit: checked trade thread, looks like it hasn't happened yet.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Dubas runs a Fleury - Mrazek tandem next season. Can’t say I’d really like it but wouldn’t be surprised if Dubas gives Mrazek another shot.

The flower most likely gets between 3/4 is that a duo we can afford

Mrazek had three groin pulls, you should have zero faith in him this year as a truly viable option. I can’t believe Dubas is ready for that gamble. I’d add, Carolina moved on from him because they didn’t see him as championship caliber, so why would we? Mrazek is a failed experiment, move forward.

Ken Appleby might outplay Mrazek and would almost certainly stay healthier. Would be happy if they signed him, never got a real look in the NHL but his stats have been stellar in the AHL and elsewhere.

Most likely does not want to pay what teams are asking to fix this mistake.

Looks fairly obvious at this point that Marazk is coming back in a tandem situation. The more I think about it, the more I'm OK with it.

With that said, the second player in the tandem had better be someone capable in the realm of Husso, MAF or Blackwood

Is the new guy expected to make more than the $3.8 mil cap hit Mrazek has.

Giving Mrazek another go doesn't look good. Even if he comes back and plays like he did in Carolina, odds are he gets injured again.

Fleury or Murray, Matt clearly.

Our second gezoalie will be just hiding in the bushes and being ready to jump in and then win.

This decision is the most important of his tenure, is Dubas really going to put his job on the line betting on Mrazek? I doubt it, guess we see.

As far as Matt Murray goes, this isn’t any type of endorsement whatsoever, but Ottawa was the absolute worst defensive team I saw last couple years and unfortunately that was a lot. Just brutal in their own end. Again, he scares the crap out of me as a viable 1 here, but it’s a complicated metric to unravel his true numbers, based on that tire fire of a team defensively.
