...and again, Marner is getting heat for not showing up...everyone else you named are also catching heat, but not at Dispy-Doodle's level because they have all AT LEAST SHOWN UP, despite the fact that a few of them probably know that they really shouldn't be here...Marner hasn't even engaged in a puck battle yet, just let's off allowing the opposing player to get it and then tries that horshyte stickpoke...won't even LOOK at a corner...and yet he's been STAPLED to McJesus, THE best player on the Planet, since the tournament began for some unknown f**kin' reason...yup, he scored a 3-on-3 goal with a nice shot...and that's Marner; road hockey hero...our Zegras...EVERY single player you named has played MEANINGFUL Playoff hockey and rose to the occasion when the time came and that's why THEY are here...Marner's here to show that he can transfer over the REGULAR SEASON hockey he plays to this pressure situation...and he's failing miserably, much like he does in the Playoffs every year...there's no denying that Mitch Marner is one of the most talented individuals in the ENTIRE NHL...the issue is that he's a REGULAR SEASON GUY, when the ice is open and dipsy-doodling around works fine; let the OTHERS do the dirty work...THIS is a chance to prove he CAN be a CANADIAN HERO, not just a road hockey one...and he leaves his Heart & Spine at home...classic Mitchy...

And yet all the dawgs and superstars have the same number of goals as him or less. So your excuse for them is "they've done it in the past so it's ok!!!"
 
Lame thread. He’s got the gwg for our only win. But he shouldn’t be playing with McDavid. I’d play him with Crosby instead.

It generally takes time for players to gel with each other, and this is true of tournaments in the past. Many other players are facing the same thing, no need to single him out. And an ‘I told you so’ thread is just pathetic. We should have picked the OP to run the team instead of the pros. We might have two losses by now. How arrogant.

Do something, Mitch, to help Canada win against the U.S. and I will NEVER dump on you, AGAIN. EVER !!!!

I would LOVE for Marner to make me eat crow. But I won't hold my breath.
 
Marner has looked fine, he just wasn't a fit with McDavid and the entire team looks better now that they've swapped the lines.

I mean, to be fair, if you look at a lot of Game 7s, it's often the lesser known players that make a name for themselves (see Justin Williams - as a Canes fan I'm sure you're well aware). Having said that, 6 games is enough of a sample size for that do or die scenario to note the pattern.

His total of 48 points (and only 23 goals) in 55 games is also bad for a player of his calibre and pay grade. Matthews doesn't have that extra gear that most other superstar players have in high pressure situations. He's basically the anti-Jonathan Toews.

Matthews has been better than Marner though.

I got so much grief over Marner. For years I said Marner should NOT be on Team Canada. For YEARS I was ridiculed.

I heard how good he is. How you cannot leave those points at home. How LOTS of players bleep the bed in the playoffs but do wonderfully when playing for Canada.

Marner's NO LOOK pass 6 on 5... WOW!

We lost possession and the next thing you know, it was 3-1. What was Marner thinking? Oh yeah, as usual, he wasn't thinking.

I hope we get a 2nd shot at the U.S. Pick up some momentum against Finland and win the GMG.

The irony of this thread is that Marner's OT goal might be the only reason they make the finals and potentially win the tournament.

If Canada lost that game, it's likely a Sweden-US final.
