It's not just one player, too often in the game one of 2 things happened when canada had the puck..

1. they looked for the perfect play instead of attacking the ent.

2. they slowed the play down and literally guys were standing still.

I hope they inject more speed, pace and attack for the Olympics.

He's not and if you are talking about next year well.. Look up how the salary cap rising works. Cap has been flat the last few seasons

So like, who had Marner being one of the best players on the roster before hand? We have McDavid, MacKinnon, Crosby, Makar I don't think anyone had him above them. So he would be the 5th best forward?

And right now Point is the 5th best. So Marner is blending in with 6 other guys outside of them doing some good things but a lot of nothing. He has a game winner and a few good setups Cirelli couldn't handle cause he sucks but not a lot else offensively.

But still, can't help but think no one is making this thread if Marner plays for another team

It's not the team, it's his history.

It's a huge tournament and he has a terrible history in big games. I hate the idea of having to rely on him as a prime scorer. Bottom six is much more palatable.

There is a group of poster who just frequent this thread - it's a good crew of people. I said Marner could not be counted on and I was given endless grief. I had NO CHOICE but to gloat when he screwed up against the U.S.

He did score the overtime winner in Game 1. I will admit he was invisible vs. the U.S., but so were a lot of guys. Marner does not have to be the dominant guy on the team. But he does belong. It is Scheifele who is sorely missing from this team.

That's NOT the point. Those are all regular reason stats. Unfortunately, when the going gets tough, Marner gets going - and NOT in a good way.

Sets up Bennett wide open for the tying goal. Sets up McDavid wide open for the GWG. That's not including all the setups he made to players who didn't score. 2 primary assists in a game Canada won 3-2.
