Dude they looked like Junior B players out there. Can't take a pass clean to save their lives, can't make a pass, not moving their feet.

I thought we had a sports psychologist this year. We have a very tight, nervous group right now. I will say it again though: If Pavelec stands on his head, the team feels relaxed, like they can make the odd mistake. They start to relax and play.

I do believe 90% of the Jets problems stem from goaltending.

Can anyone tell me why it seems Kane and Wheeler aren't crashing the net as hard as last year?

It seems they aren't getting sprung out of the defensive zone as often and I'm wondering why. It seems the wings are playing deeper this year; is that true or is it just my perception? If it is true I really have to wonder why. I thought it was one of our greatest strengths last year was the fast break points we got from those two guys and I was really looking forward to seeing it again but it just isn't happening.

Thing i didn't like about Pavy's game tonight was the rebounds he kicked out into the slot. With the Pens, that's just a terrible idea.

Makes the first save, but sets it up on a tee for anyone coming late into the slot, at times.

I guess it is, the plan is stick around the boards and play with the puck til Buff can get a shot. The PP is brutal, why do we have all the forwards along the boards or behind the net? Never ever seen a "system" like this before. totally predictable, and ineffective, yet it looks like thats all we practice because thats all we do. Piss around with the puck along the boards, pass it to the point and then go back to our own end to get the puck and start the same routine again.

Worse Power Play EVER......how many games til the coaches figure out it doesn't work? Hint....try to put a guy in front of the net and everyone take a shot at the goalie.

Just got home from the game and I'm sure pretty much everything has been said by now. Overall I thought the Jets played a more inspired game then they have in awhile and had the Pens on the run for a few shifts in the 2nd. Fluery had a strong game, but we did ourselves no favours around the net. Tangradi had a strong game and was more effective then Poni ever was in the 12 games he played. Bogo had a little rust early, but for his first game in 10 months he was a beast. Toby looked in a lot of pain coming off the ice, has there been any word on his injury?

Pavs gave us a chance to win, unfortunately we don't have any goal scorers on our team so if a goalie is on his game we really struggle to score.

It's not as simple as that. When a goalie looks as uncomfortable making saves as Pavelec has this year, you don't have confidence in him as a team. Especially when he lets in soft goals. That second one we needed to have.

You really want to see a game where we just smoke the opposing goalie in the crest for 60 minutes?

If by smoke, you mean 100+mph slap shot and crest you mean junk, then yes...it would be more entertaining then watching all the misses and with the way the Jets shoot they would be scoring all the time, of course missing their actual target.

At least Ladd was able to figure out how to handle the puck quickly into the net.

Day late and a dollar short again boys.

Jets are awful and enough with excuses and it starts with Noel. He can't motivate, he is too conservative he can't adjust to the teams. We always play the same way no difference who we play. We hit wrong people (why do we go after 2 pens kids and not Crosby, Malkin and Neal?). Our PP = Buff shot and that's it and it doesn't change. We aren't trying to crush the net we are spread in the zone and never change it. The opponent plays large box and we can't do much. Our PK is collapsed no matter if the opponent has big shot on blue line or not. We lose Enstrom and instead of playing 4 forwards on PP we bring there Hainsey. We lose 2-0 and wait till it is 1:20 on a clock to change our goalie. Noel doesn't like the call he just there to hypnotize the referees , not angry or arguing the decision.
It goes on with our key players:
Ladd - You can't see him much on a back-check or a fore-check, no hustle. He isn't passing, he scores this goals in last minutes of plays that don't change anything but his personal stats
Jokinen - why the hell did we sign him? It couldn't be any worse if we played Mark or Burmi as our 2-nd line center. 13 games 4 points? 3-rd overall pick. Forget the points he ain't doing anything defensively, just big lazy body
Kane - Not enough hustle, not enough team-work. Chip and chase, hit some rookie and that's pretty much it. Today on Pens break-away Burmi was 30 feet behind Kane and Alex was 15 feet ahead of Evander to cover Pen's player and we all know how fast Kane can skate. Yeah Evander don't bother to skate back. Hey don't forget to mention that I criticize you cuz I'm rasist
Antro and Hainsey - what are they 8 mil combined? Ouch, what are the doing exactly?
Wellwood - why is he so slow? Everything he does on the ice is slow and he has 3-4 extra moves for everything he does.
Both Little and Wheeler I call them NGND. No Gain No Damage, absolutely passively watching the game. They need to care, to show some heart.
And don't forget all the guys we took of waivers. Wright, Peluso and the trade we made for Tangradi oh this guys are awesome Why don't we try our farm, I bet we have better players playing for our minor teams
What did Burmi do to not earn PP time? Is beyond me. Our best forward on the ice. Hands down. Attitude, defensively,shut-down, wasting time, dangling and play-making abilities.

The only untouchable are Burmi, Bogo and Redmond. Everyone else could be moved for right return of players who have enough talent and actually care about the team.

P.S Enstrom has dislocated shoulder?

Not even going to comment in the above when you want to make Redmond an untouchable and not guys like Buff, Enstrom, Kane, and Ladd. And then complain about how much Hains and Antro make when we're how much short of the cap? That just comes across as an ignorant statement.

Also, from what I've gotten this year from people and the few games I have seen, this is an average team if Pavs plays great, below average if he's just good, and bad if he's bad. We have to rely on him way too much and it's frustrating because he HAS to play lights out for us to have a chance EVERY night.

Also to respond to someone's post about guys that can actually win board battles, why is it that someone who's 6'5 can't do that for us? Someone nailed it last night, Wheeler has to have room and this system doesn't allow him to use his strengths and seems to highlight his weaknesses. I don't care who's fault it is but I hate that either way.

Enstrom injured? I think I might cry... get one top pairing D back just to lose another. Really isn't our year. Are we really gonna get a top 10 pick for the 6th straight year? Ugh!

They may play like Junior B players today, they may play like world beaters tomorrow. I think it's being unrealistic if you're expecting most of our top 6 to be on night in and night out. The fact is that, to put it bluntly, there's a whole bunch of real solid players and not enough truly dynamic players on this roster. Seriously, rattle off our five best forwards (consensus would probably be Kane, Wheeler, Ladd, Jokinen and Little, not necessarily in that order), and compare it to the five best on other teams. There are maybe a half dozen teams we're clearly better than in that regard, and another half dozen that you could make a case we're as good as. That's it.

I agree that goaltending is a huge problem. I think with the system we're playing and the strength we have on the blueline, above average goaltending would probably be the difference and would make this an 8th/7th seed team. Since we're getting at best below-average netminding, it creates huge problems on a team that's already compromised as far as talent.

Honestly, without a C that is even within hailing distance of the 30 best pivots in the league or a goalie that can hang with the upper echelon of NHL netminders, expecting good things with this team is like beating your head against a brick wall. What makes it doubly frustrating is that there are some outstanding pieces on this team, and either one of those aforementioned elements would probably drag this team into a playoff spot.

In the meantime, I'm just gonna enjoy the Jets rollercoaster, all it's dizzying highs and terrifying lows.

It's funny because Ladd's goal was very symbolically telling about this game: He initially whiffed on the one-timer and ended up just lobbing a back-hander at the net. Funny how you can score goals just be putting the puck on net.

Seems like a few guys were fighting the puck tonight.

It's too bad though because overall it actually looked like we could have won this game. Maybe that's what's most frustrating.

I don't see why everyone is giving up so fast. Yes, we lost a couple of games, but that happens. Other teams can play well; not every loss is because we played poorly. We played Pittsburgh, a team with an outstanding road record, very strongly and most non-Winnipeggers I see commenting on this tonight were impressed by the Jets. Pittsburgh doesn't usually win thanks to a checking line player, their goalie and a couple of really flukey penalties that give them a 5-on-3 where the other team's PK embarrasses them for 1:30 (unfortunately the 5-on-3 was for a few seconds longer than that).

We're like the vast majority of teams in the East that are going to end up clustered around .500. You can't mistake chance events, such as missing on so many shots tonight, or having no luck around the net at all for the last two games, as though they represent some deep-seated problem with the team. They're luck. Luck turns.

The Jets played their best game in a while tonight and they kept it close against one of the NHL's elite teams. They had sustained pressure for some good stretches tonight and Fleury stood on his head to keep the puck out. If the Jets play like they did tonight every single game, the pucks will find their way in and we'd be above .500.

This team has a long way to go. Championship teams are not built overnight. Think positively and be patient!
