Drury SHOULD know what he has now after acquiring it from Gorton a few years now.

We all see the apparent changes needed, and I believe Drury will make the necessary moves...
IF the the owner concedes.

He was told not to "invest" too much into this group after last years disaster brining in Kane and Tarasenko, only to get knocked out in rd.1 in an embarrassing fashion.
I still maintain Kane move was all Dolan. Tarasenko wasn't really a bad acquisition.

Needed a night to process everything. I take the Rangers very seriously. Too seriously. The only sports team I follow from top to bottom 24/7/365.

It's time to start transitioning this core to the next wave. Most of the guys will be back, like 2/3. If they have a long run next year it's going to be because Berard/Edstrom/Othmann/an improved Rempe and the UFAs add fight.

Need more anger and grit in this lineup. We see this with the way Drury and Lilley draft. I expect one major move this summer outside of Kakko being traded.

I'll still check in here from time to time but probably won't post after today until the draft and free agency (only four weeks away!).

I'd rank this season in the top 5 regular seasons all time. 1991-92 was more fun (the world was a much much better place back in those days for anyone old enough to remember).

As it's been four years since Streets of Rage 4 came out, time to retire the Roo Returns name later this summer. Because we didn't go all the way @Machinehead will not select my new username. I'll wait until after UFA as if Skjei comes back, I'll bring back Skjeikpspeare. Otherwise I have some pretty ridiculous ideas.

No interest in watching the Finals. Need some time to get over this.

Be good the next four weeks HFNYR folks. Spend time with family, make sure to treat your fathers, step fathers, fathers-in-law, etc. next Sunday, and keep going to the gym.

Peace for now.

Gord Clark was one of the top scouting guys who picked them if I'm not mistaken. He got canned soon after those picks I think.
Clark and Bobrov. Both are gone.

Not asking for superstars but we all have to hope a lot of these picks Drury made become solid contributors (Chlemar, Mancini, Rooberak, etc.) to round out the lineup.

I have nothing pithy to say; anything I could say would be redundant and repetitive.

So, to be redundant, then let it go for a while; this team overachieved in the regular season. No one thought they were winning the Stanley Cup; too many holes that the Florida Panthers exposed (the Carolina Hurricanes exposed them too, but it was too late for them) When you best players weren't their best players, you're in a bad way; you will lose.

I don't see how this roster gets any better. Hopefully, Lafreniere continues his progression. The Miller/Schneider/Cuylle need to take the next steps up. You can't count on the kids (Othmann/Edstrom/etc. If you're not going to play Rempe, then get him out of the organization; him paying 4-5 minutes a game isn't doing him or the team any good) to make a big impact right away. Panarin likely won't score 120 points again. Good luck getting the NTC/NMCs to be waived. Panarin/Zibanejad will no show in the playoffs again. Trouba will suck; they'll add a couple of middle six forwards before the deadline that will be useless and give up assets to do it. Igor Shesterkin's prime with the Rangers is being wasted, much like Henrik Lundqvist's was.

If Chris Dury/the front office don't see what needs to be done/don't do what needs to be done, we'll be seeing this crap for another 10 years. If these playoffs didn't tell them what needs to be done, this organization/franchise is bleeped.

Bro, Rempe is going to play more next year. He literally is two years ahead of when he was supposed to debut.

Unlike say a Kakko, he strikes me as someone who will do whatever he has to do to improve. I wouldn't be surprised if he spends the summer taking power skating lessons and Jujitsu. He looks like the kind of guy who will want to be a PKer as soon as this fall.

Homeboy better get used to that feeling. He plays for a team that’s won a single championship in nearly 90 years lol. Consistent Disappointment is the only thing this franchise gets right year after year and decade after decade.
He's also playing for a team that just wasted the entire career of a HOF goaltender.

Disappointed, bitterly, but not surprised.

We won the president's trophy largely in part to Bread making big plays when we needed them. In last night's game, down a goal in the third period, Bread finally finds himself with space in the middle about 25' out and gets hardly anything on his shot that Bob easily gloves. About 10 minutes later, with only 2 minutes left Bread absolutely lasers one top corner. Too little, too late. SMDH. I'm not blaming Bread for this loss or the series loss, I just felt like that sequence was how the series went for us. We weren't able to make the big plays at the key moments, and the Cats did.

Trouba is concerning. Can't have one of your worst performing players making what he makes and wearing the C on his sweater.

Kakko is my second biggest concern. It seems like the coaching staff has lost confidence in him and he's lost confidence in himself. I think we should see what he does next year with his career hanging in the balance. A lot of us were pretty down on Laf going into this season. Hopefully Kakko can turn it around.

I don't know how to fix this team and wondering if Drury also doesn't know at this point. Hoping for some real changes, but fearing we'll just end up with another roster with significant holes that gets 100 or so points that never had a shot to win it all. Hope I'm wrong.
Put all the Panthers -- ok, most -- in Rangers jerseys and all the Rangers -- ok, most -- in Panthers jerseys. But I have a feeling that the league wouldn't allow it.

He's gonna have to fight next year even if he picks his spots. Boxing, Jujitsu, whatever to get him quicker.

He doesn't need speed for fighting. He needs to learn how to neuralize the other guy instead of trading.

I'm a lot less optimistic about his career as a regular than most.

I would trade any player if I thought I was getting the best of it, but despite everything, Kakko is exactly the type of player the Rangers need if he could finish.

He's very strong on the puck and keeps control in the offensive zone. The only other Rangers who are good at that are Kreider and Laf. Chytil could be that, too.

That jujitsu will come in handy.

A million years ago, there was a player named Keith Magnuson who loved to fight and usually lost. One off-season he studied martial arts.

For the rest of his career he kept getting his ass kicked.

The difference between us and the Panthers is that their high end skill guys are all f***ing mongoloids that can retrieve pucks and dominate you down low. Ours are...Panarin and Zibanejad. That's literally the difference.

We have better goaltending by a slight margin with Igor obviously entering his prime and Bob being at the end of his. Their defense is better because Gustav Forsling decided to become the second coming of Lidstrom out of nowhere, must be nice. And because we have Jacob Trouba, enough said there.

Don't even get me started on the deadline moves. Mikkola and Tarasenko with Tank getting the season finisher on us was the most Rangers bullshit I've ever seen. Two guys that should've been resigned or at least re-acquired that put it in our can.

But hey, when you're paying Jacob Trouba $8M a year you can't afford actual good players all year round and can only try and grab them at 75% off at the deadline for a bunch of draft picks every single year.

Who cares about the presidents trophy though? We make the playoffs without him. And then probably have a different guy who might actually do something in the playoffs

Panarin had a shitty postseason but to me Mika’s no show was worse.
Mika wasn't a no show. Can't be easy playing against Barkov. Barkov's line didnt exactly light the lamp over & over. Must have done something right. If Filip ever progresses to a 1C, Mika will light up most 3rd lines. Filip's injury hurt, in more ways than one.

Was told? Not his decision? Where did you see this?
