I’m done with # 47 on our team !!

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
Doesn’t add offense(secondary scoring either) physical players force players out of position in the offensive zone. That player is never goung to be Engvall and I don’t like that scenario. Not personal against Engvall. I just don’t like him :)
Fair!
He is easy to agree to disagree on because he is so low down on the roster.
My only request at that level is that you don't look like me on the ice out there skating around hemmed in leaving massive passing lanes open

Boyd actually contributes

Oh for sure. With everyone healthy and Robertson in the lineup (Assuming Spezza and Simmonds get 2 of the 4th line spots) - Barabanov and Boyd are the 12th and 13th forwards (IMO) is all I meant. With the injuries (especially our > 30 vets) both will get in the lineup often.

The guy has or makes a habit of not covering his player. I watch it all the time. He skates fast.

Best forward pairings this year (min 60min):

1. Matthews-Thornton 63.7xgf%
2. Matthews-Hyman 62.5%
3. Matthews-Marner 62.4%
4. Engvall-Mikheyev 61.7%
5. Tavares-Hyman 60.6%
6. Marner-Thornton 59.2%
7. Marner-Hyman 58.1%
8. Boyd-Spezza 57.1%
9. Tavares-Nylander 52.7%
10. Kerfoot-Mikheyev 50.2%
11. Kerfoot-Vesey 43.1%
12. Tavares-Mikheyev 39.8%
13. Nylander-Mikheyev 33.3%

What makes that even more impressive is that the Engvall-Mikheyev pairing has BY FAR the most extreme defense zone start usage of any pairing there.

Sorry guys but you're gonna be seeing a lot more of 3C Engvall.

They're not snakebit. they simply have little to no scoring touch. But they do other things quite well and that's fine too.

Engvall has played ok this year, and I'm not even a fan honestly.

I'd look more in the Vesey/Barabanov direction in terms of player who haven't really stepped forward in the opportunity given them, unlike say a Boyd.

They've got much more scoring touch than they've shown this year.

But cold streaks happen.

He does skate fast and handles the puck well but yes far from perfect.
I think he let's his man drift away at times because he is thinking his reach will make up for it. He is pretty good, relatively speaking, at stick placement

I’d like him out of our organization , again , just watch that game if you have the stomach to and look at him from now on , what the Hell does he do ??? Really other than the very odd shift , what does he offer , I know for a fact that real athletes and hockey players and teammates can’t stand players of his ilk in their dressing rooms .
They are the worst of the worst , you will take players that aren’t especially talented but that give it everything they have , but no one ever that I’ve ever been associated with in any sport player or coach of any kind will ever ever have respect for a player that is a chicken shhhh and doesn’t have their back when push comes to shove

The main issue with #47 is that he has the hockey IQ of a potato. That in a nutshell is his problem. He steers the puck back into his own zone a lot in hopes of winding up and making an end to end rush only to stress our own defense out more than needed. He really doesn't get it..he is ok on the penalty kill because he can use his wingspan and speed...but thinking...no he can't really think at a high enough level to give you much. Kind of like Jimmy #26...he is useless unless you give him a wide open net to score in.

Engvall is solid, has some desirable qualities (size, reach, speed, defensive play, decent puck skills) but he seems to lack the physicality and aggressiveness you'd like to see out of a player in his role
All stuff you can acquire or develop after drafting or trade for with secondary scoring and physical attributes for the same price or lower. Cory Perry type acquisition cough, cough

Cory Perry is better at 35 and 60% the cost

He isn’t a need killing penalties and does very little PK now. 50 second per game i believe. His quality of competition is very controlled and Mikheyev is a better player in his sleep. Works harder too at basically same price. Engvall is over hyped here. Adv stat darling and his physical play matches the darling tag :)

I'll add, that it's funny a thread like this pops up now when Engvall's play has given the coach confidence to move Kerfoot up into the top-6 as a winger. On eye test alone, Engvall and Mikheyev look dominant as a fast defensive unit.

He's not "soft". He's an effective player, and definitely deserving of being in the lineup, especially with injuries.
Wow man wow
You may be able to come up with other possible attributes, but to say he’s not soft , you either are related to him , have a crush on him , have limited experience of watching hockey and or playing the sport or any sport , or just like soft Meh hockey players

It is asinine what this fanbase expects out of depth players.
Is it so asinine to expect hard work , dedicated work , giving all you got , playing mentally and physically tough , contributing in all areas , having pride in your game , being a player who bails at the thought of being touched , receiving passes as a pro , making passes as a pro .
Well this is the bar that doesn’t allow our team to not win a playoff round in 16 years and a cup in lots of years
We have a terrific top 6 and change , but we need to change 3-4 players in the bottom 6 that will match the toughness and aggressive play of all the teams that are winners in the playoffs more often than not .

He won’t even get picked up on waivers. Uselessness league wide. He’s a bad contract. Especially in the current financial state of Nhl. Cheaper and better is and was available. I would rather Sabourine in the lineup. Because i think he deserves it :)

Nope, none of those things. I just understand hockey well enough to know that there's a lot more to it than "how much you hit bro?". Though funny enough, as somebody showed on the previous page, he's actually one of our bigger hitters as well. Not sure why you seem to have an illogical hatred for him, but your feelings do not reflect the facts.

He would definitely get claimed off waivers. He is not useless or a bad contract. Sabourin is a much worse player, and does not deserve to be in the lineup over Engvall.

We are hopefully going to find out soon :) I almost cried laughing when you spun him as our wait for it :). Biggest hitters. You realize how bizarre that sounds hut say it anyways. I mean why not, you said he’s not soft a few posts before and nothing tops that. You could say he see the ice like Gretzky. From the bench haha. Technically true.
