I’m done with # 47 on our team !!

  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
He is a better 3rd line centre for our team than Kerfoot, and that allows some roster flexibility if we need to move out salary to improve the team.
Kerfoot is currently producing even-strength points at a better rate than John Tavares. Don't think Engvall is going to replace him.

If I’m correct , without looking at actual stats .....
Gally has the same amount of points or one less or one more than Pierre
Oh and he also has a pulse and hits and mucks it up and goes into the corners and in front of the net and takes the body and doesn’t stick check at every opportunity and even puts up some points and could have lots more ....
I know I know for you geeks ;) that he plays on the top 2 , so don’t even try to start typing
But he has a pulse ! A pulse ! You know what that is don’t y’all ;)
Any way
Pierre did have one hit last night
First real take out in the last 10 or so games ??
Love you Pierre
If we don’t get tougher and greasier in that bottom 6 unfortunately it will be out demise in the real hockey time ( playoffs )
Go Leafs Go

I am a fan of old school hockey and I still not too sold on this team for this reason. We look good every year going into the playoffs.

Our bottom 6 is definitely very soft and needs some sand paper. Skill wise he's better than GOAT. Kerfoot is Kerfoot.

Jason and Joe have never been hitters. Simmomds to me has been a major disappointment. I mean is he really better than Vesey ? At least Vesey was defensively better

We better get Foligno or Jenner. At least one forward who can play regular shift and keep other D some discomfort

Engvall pushed a player last night. What the hell is going on. Honestly, if there was a “mean switch” for people, he’d be great. As it is, fast marshmallow with good possession on skates.

Can’t disagree with you Brotha at all
It’s not all about old school
It’s a mixture of styles and in our case we just really need 2 more greasier “ younger “ players in our bottom 6 and one greasier D man then we’re good
Out
15 and 47 and one of our D
In with 3 tougher bigger old school players snd we will be solid

Bogo and muzzin are more than enough “grease” on the back end. Don’t disagree about the forward group as long as said guy can keep up (so that means no to Foligno and the like)

Would be nice to lock them up and then let them figure out how to finish haha
Both are eligible for extensions July 1 as they’ll both be entering the final year of their deals. I wouldn’t be opposed to it as I see them
Both being effective third liners for a while, all depends on their ask as there will be a need to shave money somewhere and holes to allow young guys to grow into.

In my opinion , Soup is our best bottom 6 player currently and potentially and by far the best ....
I think the sky’s the limit for him as that , the best bottom 6 player that can play in the top 6 anytime and can be great on the PK
He does everything you want in a player that fits that description , except score ( I think he’s just about ready to take his game offensively to new heights.. He’s been playing great all year , but definitely lately , he’s a beast ... really great Top 3 LW if he can continue to produce ..
Go Leafs Go

Added Nash and now Foligno. As the forwards keep coming @Teeder Keon as Dr Evil and number 47 as Mini Me

We are finally getting it !!!!
Looks like old school Shanny said enough is enough Kyle !
We are going to add some toughness and grease and grime to the mix , and go get players that are mentally and physically tough and war hardened ..
And sprinkle in some grey beards and make our elites feel more comfy as they concentrate on putting up numbers as they should ...

I think this year they are showing that they are playing the best they have in years. Not based on record but if you watch them play and how much they can control possession, there are fewer breakaways, fewer defensive gaffes, and they're showing more consistency to playing hard every night.

The fact that they are showing these improvements shows me that they are going to be a much better team going into the playoffs this year than compared to previous years. I watch them and have so much more confidence that they can win every night or come back when down than compared to previous years.

I think it is the other way around......as hard to believe as that may sound. Babcock and Shanahan didn't value toughness. Dubas' teams have always had tough guys.

@Teeder Keon I love reading your posts and respect your views, but I still like having the Giraffe on the team.

He's never going to be a top-line player, and he might not even stick as a bottom-sixer, but I think he does have potential to round out into a good third- or fourth-line centre. I keep in mind that he is not yet fully developed (that day will soon come).

I am so tired of the Leafs overpaying to acquire good mid- or late-career players developed by other teams. I have often wished the Leafs would grow their own talent and sell the surplus, instead of the other way around.

I most enjoy seeing Leaf-developed players like Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Hyman, Rielly, Dermott, Mikheyev and Holl come into their own on the Leafs' roster -- whether they are stars or foot soldiers -- and former Leafs' prospects like Leivo sent on their way to pursue their careers with another team when they are surplus to the Leafs' talent pool.

It burns me when the Leafs give up too early on young talent -- here I will show my age too -- like Randy Carlyle, Tuuka Rask and others for short-term fixes that seldom work.

If the Giraffe can stay afloat until what he is becomes more apparent, I'm happy to watch him play and develop.

I'm no hockey expert -- just a couch-potato fan -- but I don't think he hurts the team too much and also looks pretty good at time.

Just my opinion.

PS - That said, I would think that Engvall is certainly one of the Leafs' 15 forwards whose roster spot is at risk with the acquisition of Nash and Foligno. All the better. Let them earn their spots.

Hey brotha
Terrific post and opinions , really solid ...
As you probably know , my opinions on Pierre or any player on our Leafs team is not directed personally towards them ...most of what I say is tongue and cheek ...
My thoughts are all about watching our team loose in the playoffs recently over and over and over ..and why and how we lost
Of course Pierre isn’t the problem as one player on this team , but more rather his style of play and vs what we need to try to win it all ..
I’m just so tired of losing , I’m so fortunate watching and listening to our Leafs for over 60 years and at least being part of cup teams , whew !
It’s been way way way to long since our last one .
But in recent history , snd in my opinion , we lack toughness on mind and body snd soul .
And Players like Pierre just don’t bring those intangibles to our team , I’m not saying they don’t try , not at all , but it’s painfully obvious that before these recent trades , that we lacked those qualities and , I feel now that we are at least addressing these deficiencies nicely.
Is it enough to win in the playoffs, ? I don’t know , but I feel more confident with every war weary player we add that has those qualities that I mentioned above ....
I respect your opinions Brotha ...
Go Leafs Go
Ps
I wouldn’t mind seeing him as a 4th line player coming in when needed , but no higher and only on a emergency basis and work with him , but I do know this big time , you can’t teach toughness and attitude and a winning mental pedigree.. unfortunately

Further to my last post -- I think Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander, Hyman, Kerfoot, Mikheyev, Simmonds and Foligno are locks for nine playoff roster spots.

If and when the whole team is healthy, which three of Engvall, Galchenyuk, Barabanov, Thornton, Spezza and Nash also make the team and which three sit in the playoff press box?

There is protection against injury there for sure, but there is also competition not just with the other team but within the Leafs' own team for playing time. For the younger players what happens next could make or break careers, and for the greybeards could settle their post-retirement legacy.

Unless Barabanov pulls a very large rabbit out of a very impressive hat, I think he sits.

It beats me among the others.

I have to bump this tonight. This guy never excited me ever not even one play. Nothing but frustrating watching this guy lose pucks with zero care in the world. He is not a good player. Brooksie showed you a hockey player thats taking Engvall’s job on the fourth line and am i ever happy we are about to see the last of this pylon.
He doesn’t do anything well but get a stick in the lane here and there. The giveaways from him tonight and bad passes in to dangerous areas in the defensive zone and his fumblings are atrocious.
I actually hate the look of him. Worst player on the team easily and only pkayer on the ice tonight that looked to be half effort.
