Blow it up!

JR, you want a "salary dump"? How about dumping Jordan Staal's massive salary. Maybe we can have the other half of the Juice back, along with Sutter. Treat it like you did the Kaberle trade, and get a mulligan, you wrinkly old *******.

This thread needs more Ward bashing. He made some great saves but also let in 2 pretty bad goals. Who is going to open the Time to Start Khudobin thread?

I choose to blame the loss on a combination of the Jeff Hamilton signing, the Ryan Carter trade, and the wasted nepotism pick of Matt Mahalak. Giving Sutter the "A" didn't help out here either.

Yeah, we're weird. We expect losses with all our hearts, but then when they actually happen we act like we didn't completely expect it.

This is a great summation of this board.

Reminds me a bit of the Panthers (NFL) in the way that we know we're a good enough team to come away with a victory, yet most games just hang around long enough to give us hope and then lose the game.

Except unlike the Panthers (NFL), our Cam keeps us in most games instead of throwing them away.

Really could have used some better play from Faulk in this one. Despite playing in 31 shifts he only had five SOG, and didn't even record any hits. If the Hurricanes are going to compete in this league, they'll need Faulk to play like the player he is capable of being, not the scrub he's playing like now.

Must admit to a certain amount of discouragement after the first but that last few minutes was much better.

It'll take a lot to convince me that Bowman is anything but a boat anchor. Wouldn't mind seeing Dvorak up on the top line though.

Yes. That is exactly the kind of thing we need to see from him when the chips are down.

'member this? HAHA

I got so depressed I slugged down four shots of whiskey for dinner and went to bed at 9 o'clock. FML

I can't for the life of me figure out what the difference is between Drayson Bowman and the litany of other guys that have auditioned for top six roles and never gotten them. At least with Boychuk and Dalpe there was the occasional .....what did I just see you do?! Type moment in a good way. Boychuk's two goal game comes to mind. Bowman beat a guy with an improbable slapshot once but other than that has the guy made a hockey play? Hashtag Team Dalpe. Hashtag stillbitter.

He's already there. Only 15 minutes tonight even with two minutes of powerplay time.

As a guy that follows the SHL quite a bit I would love to see him back in the league, the AHL would perhaps be a better place for him though. On the other hand, Brynäs is not struggling like they did last year so he could have a pretty fun season if he returned. Would really like to see him getting at least one game with 15+ minutes in the NHL to see where he stands, it's tough to get into the game if you only take a couple of shifts every period. Playing against Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Giroux, Crosby and Malkin is great experience for an 18 year old no matter how much you play though.

Muller line combinations are starting to remind me of Maurice more and more. Both of these guys need Easy Bake Ovens and a basic lesson in chemistry. I'm still trying to figure out how can you promote a guy all the way up from the 4th line and think its a grand idea. He put that guy on 4th line for a reason. Maybe its just me.

I blame this loss on Paul Maurice.

I know its just 3 games but going back to the beginning of last season I've seen some trends in the way this team is handled I don't think will work in the long run.

Murphy needs some time in the A. His decision making in the 3rd period reeked of the need for some additional seasoning at a lower level.

Now think about what he'll look like in a game where the physicality gets ratcheted up a few notches once teams settle into the grind. He hasn't faced a great deal of physical forechecking to this point and when he does it's going to get really ugly really fast if he doesn't start picking up his tempo.

I was thinking this all game but didn't bother posting it- we saw entirely too much Ryan Murphy and Jay Harrison on the ice. Harrison singlehandedly gifted them two goals with dumb penalties, and Murphy was ineffective in either zone, though they still seemed to get more ice time than the other pairings. I didn't catch any of Komisarek during the preseason, but he can't be much worse than Harrison was yesterday.

EDIT: Checked nhl.com, and the Murphy/Harrison pairing indeed had less TOI than the other pairs. They were just that bad.
