In what universe does Big Trouble in Little China beat Shawshank Redemption?

In EVERY universe.

We're pitting early-90s Tim Robbins:

Against mid-80s Kurt Russell:

And an admittedly everyone's-favorite-grandpa Morgan Freeman:

Against pretty much the most bad ass collection of ninjas in cinema history:

Freeman is the only reason this is even close.

I have to admit, I've seen both movies and when I run across Shawshank while surfing channels on TV, I keep moving on because I've already seen it and don't care to watch it again. Big Trouble in Little China on the other hand, I'll stop and re-watch it every time.

Speaking of movies, have any of ya every been flipping channels, only to come across a movie you enjoy (and also own) yet, instead of going to the shelf and getting said movie, you watch the edited version on tv with commercials?

It drives my girl friend crazy when I do that

I guess I don't remember these Breaking News interruptions for thunderstorms when I was a kid. I mean, they're showing pictures of wet neighborhood streets like it's Armageddon.

****ing power is out. Barely even rained here. :shakehead

I'm actually pissed right now, I went to see Star Trek finally, and the power went down during the film TWICE. Of course, since there was some kind of event going on at the theater I couldn't get ahold of ANYONE that was about meet my complaint and get me a free pass for another movie at a later date. Thinking about emailing corporate.

Hell yes email corporate. If there wasn't anyone who would reimburse you OR give you a free movie pass...wow, that's awful customer service. Which theatre?

Was at a restaurant in Holly Springs and the lights in the building were flickering. Quite spooky.

Apparently the five points area got hit hard according to WRAL.

Briar Creek. ONLY time I've had a complaint about that place and they've gone out of their way to help on similar in the past for me, so I'm chalking this up as a rare occurrence. Corporate will probably offer me a few free passes, and frankly one is all I would want to begin with given the good record I've had with the place.

My power went out for 3 hours (ITB Raleigh), just came back on about 15 minutes ago. It might have rained for about 15 minutes, but the wind did blow a tree down across the street.

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

I'm not one to get spooked easily, but I gotta admit, I just got weirded out pretty good.

Left a nite club with two friends about an hour ago and walked a couple blocks to a train station. Kinda secluded, no houses or residential, it's in an industrial part of town. Just a warehouse, some trees//bushes and an abandoned, fenced in lot full of gravel and overgrown grass. Of course it's dark and it's raining. Anyway, standing on the street corner talking when all of the sudden I hear a crack, like someone stepped on a tree branch or something, look around, nothing, keep talking, another crack, then a third. Don't hear anything for what seemed like a few minutes, but then my friend points and says "Look!" and there's a lit cigarette on the side of the road that's less than half smoked and not a person to be seen, anywhere.

We skipped out on waiting for the bus and walked back to find a cab.
