I was an intern so I couldn’t partake! My brother in law (wasn’t my brother in law at the time) worked there and helped me get the internship, for the next few years after, he had a new car every time I saw him. Unfortunate they got rid of it, very cool benefit. Maddening place to work, lots of good things and bad things to say.

I did well in the internship and had a role created for me after graduation. I still had to apply and go through their on-site interview process. I rubbed some

people the wrong way in the interview, and even though the person who’d be

my boss voted me in, I lost the “majority” vote from some people in
departments that wouldn’t have anything to do with me, and therefore lost the
role that was specifically created for me. (My brother in law is a master of
workplace politics and got the scoop for me.) Bad lasting memory after an
awesome, awesome summer there! Blessing in disguise at the end of the day,
but frustrating nonetheless.

MB no different than any big corp in the political arena. I was lucky in that I am on the technical side . Sorry you had that experience. Like you said things work out sometimes .

My subconscious has my best interest at heart, but the worst timing.

I was having a nice sleep last night, but in each one of my dreams, I was pulled over by the cops (for seemingly no reason) and told I had a suspended license.

After the 3rd straight dream of this, my conscious brain finally pieced together that maybe I should check on that after my accident last week. So at 3:30 in the morning, I paid the DMV $11 to tell me that my license is still valid.

Dude I've had dreams where I'm driving and get pulled over and they find an open bottle of beer in the cupholder. Last week I had one where I was apparently wanted for hit and run. I woke up from that one at about 6am and decided to go on an early morning run because I wasn't going back to sleep after that.

That's pretty much what happened to me. I knew the likelihood that my license was suspended was very low (I'm pretty sure the police and/or courts have to inform you of something like that), but my brain was not going to let me go back to sleep until I confirmed that it was still valid.

It was weird that it was such a prominent part of my sleep last night. Everything else that I dreamt (that I can remember), I can explain away. That part, no explanation...other than the usual stress and anxiety that's apparently just considered normal nowadays.

It’s fine as long as no one is having a dream where they go pee.

‘cause when you go in your dream, you go for real.
Not really. It's not once or twice when I have woken up from a pee dream in shocked horror because of this truism and only after frantic patting around been relieved that I haven't been relieved.

I dreamed that I went to Hollywood to start a career and my aunt let me stay in her house while she was out of town but then this car accident victim showed up and I thought she was my aunt's friend but she wasn't she just didn't know who she was so we tried to find out her identity and it was a fun mystery meanwhile I'm auditioning for a movie and I see the Director say this is the girl but it wasn't me it was some other girl but it was very scary and then something happened and I realized

Seriously though, I love movies surrounding dreams, or where you're unsure of the reality. Especially David Lynch stuff -- Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway. Just watched Eyes Wide Shut the other day, great film. Inception, Shutter Island, etc.

Right now, West Virginia is not almost heaven. Dead stop on 81. Estimated time in traffic, 42 minutes. I’m mad at waze for not routing me around it.

I've been doing 2 x morning shift, 2 x afternoon shift, 2 x night shift, 4 x day off schedule for the past ten years.

For my last stint, a guy from other shift group asked me to switch my last set of two night shifts to his two morning shifts, which effectively meant that instead of starting my days off 6 am on the morning of my first day off, I got to start them 2 pm on my last working day.

I had forgot what luxury this 2 pm the day before shit is. I'm starting a new stint tomorrow morning and I feel like I have been on a long vacation. I feel like I have robbed time.

I'm trying to be more charitable about it. But I f***ing hate West Virginia with the burning passion of 1000 suns. I don't care that it's a beautiful state. It's long. It takes forever to drive through. They raised the toll on the Turnpike $2.00 (maybe more at this point, it's been a few years since I've driven it). I hate it I hate it I hate it.

This is me being more charitable.

If you are into the dream thing I highly recommend "The Art of Dreaming" by Carlos Castaneda. I can report the techniques in that book work.

More of a film buff with an interest in those themes in films, not sure I could focus on reading that book. Thanks for the recommendation though

Might not be what you're looking for, but when it comes to straight-up depictions of dreams, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Restless" is an all-timer.

Oddly enough driving through WV (but not on 81, usually 77 to 19), is one of my favorite drives since it tends to be quite relaxing. f*** the speed traps in VA and Summersville though. And also f*** the turnpike, that i do hate.

On 81, I’m only in WV for a very short time so it’s not so bad. Just a lot of trucks and always construction in WV on 81.
