When 3 players are behind your own net and leave a guy alone in front, that isn't a system issue, that's a lack of defensive awareness. When both defensemen are in the same corner with one opponent and leave the front of the net wide open, again that's nothing to do with rotation, that's bad on ice decision making. Same as when you're playing Overtime 3-3, you head down the ice on a 3-1 and blast the puck a foot wide of the net leading to a breakaway the other way. These are bad errors and terrible situational hockey play.

Not sure why these concepts are so difficult to understand, I mean Keefe pretty much said the same thing during his post game conferences.

In the scenario where two D are in one corner, who is supposed to be there and who isn't? Those are the questions I want answered.

It's not all just about the end result for the coaching staff...

Sadly is there any hope for a Cup in the next five years with this team?
I think someone has to have the balls to admit this current structure won't work and cut bait with Marner and ideally, Tavares.
Don't think that's in MLSE plans however.

so these losses, last night's and the one to Ottawa and the 9-3 to Buffalo and if they lose this one to Carolina, they don't matter right? since they're regular season games?
Playoff regular season it just doesn't matter to too many of these guys. They take nights off whenever they feel like it, despite all the post game rahrah they spout, yeah they're a team alright

There wasn't enough offense in the the playoffs... not saying it was the right team constructed... just this problem didn't start until this year.
I will give you that this year the team is even worse then last year.
They are actually laughable. I’m no Dubas fan but I dislike what Tre has done just as much.
We are squandering what could have been an awesome rebuild. No success under Dubas and it looks like Treliving is going to be even worse

Every game matters, playoff games for sure matter more though. Like game 3 against Florida for example, that was way more important than any regular season game we played, probably more important than how we played in the entire month of February.

So these losses, what I would say is that in terms of gathering points, they don't mean much to me, I just don't care. In terms of projecting our chances in the playoffs based on how badly we're playing, that's another story. Still lots of time to turn it around but it's been a pretty crappy season so far.

2019-20 - Leafs were 27th in GA
2020-21 - Leafs were 7th in GA
2021-22 - Leafs were 18th in GA
2022-23 - Leafs were 5th in GA (Sammy stood on his head all season)
2023-24 - Leafs are 20th in GA

They have been up and down under Keefe, to say the problem didn't start till this year is not accurate.
