Ha.

It's funny because some of the people seemingly preaching patience also seem to be the ones who make the most noise in times like these.

The other thing is, Slaf doing good is not going to pain the people who were calling him out, we're all hab fans and want to see him and the team do well.

It's not some kind of 'GOTCHA' moment, if anything it further proves and drives home the point of how bad he's been playing compared to how he SHOULD be playing.
????

Great game. This is why we drafted the guy. Because he has the potential to hit that potential and offer a different dimension.

People ‘making noise’? What does this even mean? Everyone agrees that he has been underwhelming and can play better. Last night he showed what is possible but I don’t see anyone saying anything other than him needing to be more consistent. I haven’t seen declarations or final announcements’ on anything.

It’s just important to understand that he’s a developing player who’s still figuring things out. But the potential for a strong physical player is there. I don’t expect him to become a Tkachuk bro, but he could play a lot more like them than he has.

You don't even need to imagine how desperate his fanbase has to be to so loudly celebrate a single good game against a team that is missing its best player and struggling to hold a wild card spot. I was tagged in the GDT, wow… now that’s dedication to the PR campaign. A commentator who isn’t blindly in love with Slaf must be highlighted whenever Slaf has a good game!

A good game is a good game — hallelujah — but there are 82 games a season. Of the 55 or so games played so far, what is Slafkovsky’s ratio of good game to not-so-good games? Let him have some good games in a row, to raise his expected performances, and we'll all be cheering.
A single good game… dude, are you okay?

He can definitely fight but he needs to learn to pick his spots much more carefully than Xhekaj. And I think that’s an understatement. It’s too costly to lose him to injury for that. Think Larry Robinson. No more.
The whole time he fought,I was worried he would break the bones in his hand.Plus, an awkward off-balance slip can lead to serious head injuries.

There’s things that Slaf needs to learn that he doesn’t have yet. It’s a process. Using his big body effectively to plow towards the net through Ds under the hash marks and stuff goals. Every year until 25 years old it will become easier because he’ll be heavier and stronger. But it’s still a skill to learn. He’s not there.

But he has things that he can easily do that he needs to do more of and that will make him extremely effective now:
1- Shoot on net
2- Skate the puck up the ice between the two blue lines
3- Not always defer to his linemates
4- Keep his feet moving
These’s nothing to learn here. Just do. With “adult strength” he’ll be a monster.
Right. He’s still figuring things out. He needs to develop some consistency.

He’s had an okay season. Not great but certainly not bad. We all know he can play better though because he’s shown it. Sometimes a lot can turn on and it just clicks.

I’m looking forward to his next game. I’d also love to know what MSL was talking to him about over the break. Whatever he said, it worked. Now he needs to keep the effort level up.

Can you please describe how a 6’5 240 21 YO SHOULD be playing?

I’ve been saying for 2 years that these big bodied guys take years to get going. He is ahead of Thornton and the Sedins , all of which are in the Hall. Your takes have been unserious on this player, you clearly don’t have perspective on player development or understand what you are watching.

He is exactly where he should be based on player type and draft class. If you thought you were getting something different thats on you.
Patience is a virtue.

Some guys think we drafted Crosby or Mcdavid.
Unfortunately is was not that type of draft.........we still drafted a very good player, and to a man, the guys said they may have not drafted the best player that day, but the best player they think he could become, down the line.

" Move your feet, get the puck on the net, finish your checks, play hard, go to the net. "

All these everybody knows these little hockey sayings. But if a guy actually just put them in practice hes a better player.

I noticed over the years when we played a hard and aggressive forecheck our overall game was better. Guys play better when they lean to aggessiveness as opposed to laying back and counter attacking

Some guys dont have the skills, but Slaf does. He " just " decides to be aggressive and hit etc and his game takes off. And the goal was the cherry. Mental aspect in sports is big.

The context was of my post was in response to ReHabs' post where he mentioned among other things, how he was being tagged in GDT and etc. because Slaf was having a good game. Which is basically people 'rubbing it in' and using this as sort of a 'gotcha!' moment because Slaf finally had a good game, lol.

Monahan x2
Chiarot for a 1st
Kulak for a 2nd
Trading up for Hage
Petry 1st trade

Then some minor wins like DeSmith, Allen.

Dach and Newhook are still to be determined

People will disingenuously use 10 years of Bergevin compared to 3 years of HuGo. Bergevin's best trade happened at the very end of his tenure, and selling a big piece like Pac wasn't some great accomplishment. Selling great value is easy.

The list you presented is already better than what Bergevin did in his first 3 years.

He was tagged because he's spent the better part of three years doomsdaying on a 20 year old kid.

Bottom line is that this guy is still a work in progress. I have zero problem with anyone saying that he's been disappointing but it's all relative to the expectations he set at the end of last year. He's still pacing for 50 points. It hasn't been terrible. But the trolling has been outlandish.

None of us knows where he's going to end up. And as many of us have said for a while now, he might not even be the best point getter in his draft. But he brings a dimension that we sorely lack. That's why we took the chance on him. The potential for a big rugged forward is there. Now whether or not he realizes it is another story but it's ridiculous how much ReHabs has gone after this guy.

Just watched the fight... fighting is not for him, he will get killed against a fighter, just play a big body game you don't need to fight.
Yeah, if he's going to throw down he needs to learn how to punch. I admire the effort but you're right it's an injury waiting to happen.

So tagging ReHabs in posts if Slafkovsky has a good game is okay?

I wonder what’s more desperate, a fan base rejoicing after one of their best young players applied in a game what he recognized and admitted he needed to work on, ie how you learn in life, or a poster on a forum behind his keyboard finding every little opportunity to dump on a 20 yo who’s still developing while also choosing to ignore that this same young player had an incredible second half last year and that sometimes development just isn’t linear. I mean no disrespect but your constant negativity on Slaf has been quite annoying.

No

The fact that him having a great game bothers people like you and ReHab IS the problem

Not Slafkovsky. It's you guys. Remember that

"I totally am cheering for him to develop and not desperately wanting to seem (W)right." I'm a top 3 cheerleader for the lad and even I don't talk about him as much.
