it’s not just giving up a goal, it’s the timing and the way he gave it up that hurts the team. he does that ALL THE TIME. him playing well isn’t good enough because he has mental lapses every game and with a goalie that’s all it takes to lose in this league

Jesus, he doesn’t read the board and the crowd didn’t make him misplay the puck. Win a game and the crowd is happy. It takes very little, they have a very short memory.

I assume his relationship with the team sucks because players whose career have been completely derailed by a lot of injuries tend to have shitty relationships with their teams. Both ways.

Team defence is nkt the best but it’s pretty damn good . We allow the fewest amount of shots in the league (or close to 1st for fewest allowed) . This is a team that has won 10 games in a row amd are one of the best in the league and we have not really given up all that much.
The defensive mistakes were mainly the forwards screwing up. No one supported Bahl on his pinch . Watch the Canes . When their D pinches , they always have a player behind for support. Salvador showed in the intermission how we should have had someone to support Bahl .

By any metric imaginable, Blackwood was having a very good game prior to that boner.

One boner is all it takes to lose. You can’t afford a boner a game. Or a softie a game when you otherwise play great. Not when you can hardly score yourself. It’s an unforgiving position.

Jack moved heaven and earth to pick us up. Then you could just see us deflate after that mistake, what it takes out of everyone.

These are the games inferior goaltending hurts you more than games where the team isn't in it.

Can we not expect Blackwood to ever allow fewer than 2 goals in a game, especially when one of the goals was created single handedly by him? I thought he was an NHL goalie though?

There’s a huge difference in Jack’s mistake and Blackwood’s and their roles.

Blackwood’s job is to stop pucks.
Jack’s job is to make stuff happen and create goals.

That was a really bad mistake from Jack but with the type of player he is shit like that is gonna happen some times. Needs to make sure they don’t happen often. Lmao Jack’s job is a lot more than just to control the puck. If that’s all that was expected of him he he wouldn’t have scored that goal or made that turnover. Would’ve just skated around with it in his own end on the pp.

Blackwood just needs to be a steady presence in the net and come up with some saves. Mistakes like that can’t happen.

But don’t talk about credibility while suggesting Jack Hughes’ job is to control the puck like there isn’t a lot more to it and expected.

Jack is one of the best Puck handlers in the league and loses the puck and then you expect a goalie who plays the puck far less than anyone else to NOT make a mistake and blame the one who isn’t suppose to race out and make a pass to cover for the guy making the actual mistake.

Overall, yes. As for today, Nobody has been doing anything with Carolina. They are the real deal defensive/goaltending juggernaut in the regular season. Their last 10 games have been impressive.
