I wish you all the bad things in life.
Ask Dominic Hasek or his ex-wife. On second thought, better not do that. What did Ted Nolan do to earn that blackball?

That's a setup Q right? soft, uncoordinated, inconsistent, insufficient attention to detail and defence, leaderless coaching, willing to accept continuous poor play without applying accountability, losers? The Isles had 4 D men for most of the game, and you’d never know it from the free ride they got.
What is this team? What’s the identity?
Nope.Well that didn’t take long….
Can you spill the beans?Ask Dominic Hasek or his ex-wife. On second thought, better not do that.
Apparently aledging that x player/coach/GM was caught having sex with x player/coach/GM's wife in the locker room showers was a recurring favourite rumour on radio call in shows going back to the 70s in Buffalo with the names changing but otherwise the same.Ask Dominic Hasek or his ex-wife. Seems like he will get at least 82. What are we waiting for. We are last place in east in points. Shared for 11th in point %. A loss on monday and we are below .500. Bring in a defensive minded coach for this season and get another in the summer if the new gm wants it!Simply put our season start needs to be far better ,and if DJ cant get us going how long until we pull the plug...5games ,10,15 ??
Well that didn’t take long….
As long as it takes to get a new GMHow much rope does DJ Smith have???
I was more referring to the Staois comments. It’s been years coming…literally one the longest in the league.
Was he waiting for the team to get good before teaching them basic structure? Basic accountability? I would have assumed that would be THE focus while talent gets accumulated.
It’s all the teachable stuff where they suck.
There is a way around the "we need a GM first" issue. Once you fire DJ you bring in an interim coach for the balance of the season. There are a number of coaches who could fit this bill - Claude Julien would probably take it, for instance. Heck, maybe even Gallant or Patrick Roy might if you compensated them well enough. The new GM can then be part of the process of deciding if you retain the interim guy, or search for a new coach entirely.
If you are one of the three people I named above, you don't have a gig right now, so your ability to dictate terms and conditions is a little weakened. You also have the chance to take over a very skilled lineup and get them playing the right way - it's not like you are being asked to take over in San Jose or Columbus. Turn it around and you are a hero, either earning you an extension offer in Ottawa or the chance to interview elsewhere.
Regardless of who you get or who you pick, it is becoming more apparent each day that DJ won't be back. He is also on an expiring contract. So for the love of God, what are you waiting for? Do the deed, bring in someone new, and see if you can salvage the season before it gets away from you.
DJ! DJ! DJ!
Sounds sordid. Tell me more!Apparently aledging that x player/coach/GM was caught having sex with x player/coach/GM's wife in the locker room showers was a recurring favourite rumour on radio call in shows going back to the 70s in Buffalo with the names changing but otherwise the same.
I agree the team should not rush getting a GM; however they already have Staios as POHO who could act as interim GM until they hire one next off season, assuming a good one becomes available then. A good c coach could become available then too, so waiting to hire the GM and a new coach full-time is smart. However, we could hire a coach on a temporary basis with a mandate to focus on team defence. and teaching the players how to play stronger defensively.I was more referring to the Staois comments.
I won’t argue with any of this, just from what Andlauer and Staios have said they likely won’t rush into things and will look to replace the GM first and let him replace the coach.
I suspect bringing in the GM will take time, perhaps even to the end of the season if their guys of choice aren’t available. I think they will choose locker room stability (their words), while they take their time getting the GM in place, and will let him go through the proper process of getting the coaching staff he wants.
It will be short term stability of organization, and rolling with what we have, in exchange for a new GM and coaching staff brought in in a calculated manner.
Sucks for us as fans perhaps, but it seems like the path that has been telegraphed. I don’t think they look at the new GM having a couple higher picks to start his tenure with as necessarily a bad thing.
Reading these posts I'd say many of us agree that the interim coach with a defensive approach is the right move. Maybe SS is trying and there are no takers? I trust SS and MA have a reasonable grip on what is happening. Difficult for fans to be patient, especially since we have seen the same pattern for 6 or so years.I agree the team should not rush getting a GM; however they already have Staios as POHO who could act as interim GM until they hire one next off season, assuming a good one becomes available then. The ALARM CLOCK has already gone off. Meanwhile the POHO tells us “stability” is what the team needs now.
The POHO has it wrong. The team needs direction!
