We are underperforming our expected goals differential.

That 2nd one is an interesting graph.

You look at the top teams and they're finding ways to win. You look at us and we're not which is a hallmark of a young team

I think we're close. We found a way to get 4 points in Sweden.

The one thing we need to improve on is once we have possession in our end, it has to get out. If we tighten that up, I think we're going to get on a roll.

I don't think
You wanted an owner to make all the decisions! For years! It's his team and he can do what he wants and everybody should thank him for owning the team blah blah blah. Now you do a big ass U turn, straight through heavy traffic, drive across an old persons lawn scaring them, spilling thier tea. Who do you think you are? Psycho!
That's an accurate portrayal of anyone on this board

Same, even though it was dated the 20th.
The tweet was, but he was converting a soirtLogiq table or viz, so without that, idk. They use proprietary data, so he'd have to default to whenever they did it rather than redo it with up to date info.

I'd honestly have been more convinced had they lost two close games that were extremely well played. Giving up four goals in seven minutes to the Wings doesn't inspire confidence, and DJ's response was that the game went "as expected".
Yeah they beat 3 teams in disarray. None of them were convincing wins. They started off great the first 17 periods they looked like a wagon. Havent been the same since.

This team has wild home/road swings because of the Sweden trip. Six of the next eight at home and the only teams they travel to are the Wings/Isles. They better do some damage in this extremely favorable stretch because it gets gross after that (11 out of 14 on the road).

I believe Staios when he says that they don't want to make a coaching change right now. In a perfect world, they evaluate all of this at the end of the season and either extend DJ or embark on a proper coaching search with everyone available during the traditional hiring cycle.

I still think, though, that they have Claude Julien in the bullpen ready to go should this team hit the skids and fall out of the race. I say Julien because you can probably get him on an interim basis for the remainder of the season and he is a bit more plug and play. Patrick Roy is bit more, err, complicated. You get Patrick, you get his program, his staff, etc. and probably a demand for a three year deal with at least some say over personnel. Gallant would also want a longer term deal. Julien is a bit older, lives in town, and would probably be willing to take an interim gig provided he was appropriately compensated.

Sold Y/N?

DJ and his coaching staff should concentrate on keeping the puck out of our net. That would be the biggest contribution that they could make. Why is it taking so long?

What kind of wagon? The kind that used to empty the outdoor toilets at the beach?

Agreed. A win in the next game could result in us leap frogging two teams reducing the total number of teams that need to be leap frogged. One game at a time, but they do need to string wins together now and in the near future.

Kinda wagon that could go on a run. Played with a ton of pace, transition was great heavy on the forcheck. Loved the system they were playing now they have reverted back to the old ways of no sustained pressure giving up the blue line and poor defensive positioning. Once they play good teams we will see the regular dominance against.

The reverse of that is they gave up 1 goal over 5 periods. That's good isn't it?

Momentum swings in games. Teams push. In the Detroit game ya they certainly gave up 4 in a period. A few lucky bounces for that to happen.

But I think DJ's point was they found a way to win. Which they did, didn't they?

Healthy and slotted correctly versus not

Korpisalo is at 0.906 % SV%.. at game 11 played... he was at 0.872 at game 4 or 5.

so in the 6 or 7 games since, he has skyrocketed his SV%.

That can make a huge difference.

He (goaltending in general) was key #1 to this season. Decent Korpisalo, all will be well.

Now we have Forsberg to worry about.. he was at the same 0.872 after his 2nd or 3rd start.. He is down to 0.86 at start 6!!!

That game against the Canucks should be thrown out. He was totally left out to dry.

He stopped a penalty shot, all but 1 shot in regulation and OT and then 3 shoot-out attempts last game, to be 1st star (he also assisted on the tying goal).

He will be fine, IMO. Yes, we need goalies to make more saves but we need to stop giving up so many great chances - specifically when we manufacture the chances for the other team by giving the puck away for no good reason.

Is there any talk on when a new GM might be coming in?

I ask because we are probably stuck with DJ until then

At this point you have to assume he is here for the season. Does swapping DJ for interm Capuano going to do anything? We need to let the whole staff go bring in a new coach with his own guys. I'd be fine firing him and letting anyone interm but I doubt they bother.
