Can they hire the coach first then mandate a gm hold the new coach on ...?

Not a good look for the next GMs authority . You are basically saying the POHO is the GM and the GM is just an assistant.

Who ever gets hired as coach before the next GM if it happens will have a interim tag attached to their title and the next GM should have the most weighted opinion if that guy stays or goes.

And 9 times out 10, an interim Coach comes from within the organization …

I find it highly unlikely that SS would undermine a new GM, with the stipulation that the Coach remains in place. Besides, am pretty sure DJS is in the last year of his contract, and the Senators may hold an option year on him as well…. So DJS is, if not already, will soon be entering lame duck waters…

Time for a change. Give David Bell the interim job and let the next GM pick his coach. Or give Julien the interim job. Or ask DJ to change the assistant coaches, hire competent people and have DJ reduce his role to chief motivator lol

The team may not have quit on the coach, or tuned him out, but whatever he is teaching isn't working. Whether it's too complicated, or not the right fit, or whatever, we need someone else to come in where they actually believe they can be successful by following the instructions.

Lol, you’re definitely kidding right?

DJ’s coaching could probably be replaced by a recording of this clip and the players wouldn’t notice DJ was gone until the post game beers:

Better to find that out now than another 2 or 3 seasons from now

Exactly, there’s no downside. Maintaining status quo just maintains mediocrity.

Did Vincent just invent a new coaching strategy? I wonder if DJ has heard about this innovative idea.

The pundits are all saying the rope is short and ground is shaky, but new PHO and interim GM gave a bite of confidence to the coaching staff on day 1 of iGM role not a week ago while simultaneously saying his first priority is to bring stability to the team.

Do we really expect a coaching change in the short term?

For the record, I am in the camp that we are past the point of needing a coaching change. Whatever style of hockey this is, it doesn’t work for this team.

If we keep losing--- not gonna have a choice.

Honestly if the goalie swap with LA doesn't convince people that it is the DJ system which destroys goalie careers, I don't know what will.
I will always disagree with this statement, it’s not the system, it’s the players not playing smart hockey. DJ needs to be held accountable but I think we will see with the next coach a shuffle of our secondary core players is also needed.
