And how about "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" if DJ and Dorion get axed at once?

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people
And I want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their home
And I'm welcome no more
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine
Well, I'd celebrate, cause Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now.

And he has not shown himself able to elevate the rosters he was given.
Yes that is true. Guy Boucher could because he insisted on his players, mediocre as a team they were, playing a strong defense-first game without the puck to limit the opposition shots on goal. :)

I think if we had a coaching staff that focused on "defence first" and "strong individual defensive play" for a while, and held players accountable, that the team would get better as the overall talent is better than it was before.

I have been OK with DJ as I feel he hasn't had a roster until this year (and last year until all the injuries too), so he has been judged way too harsh and hasn't had a fair chance.
But these players only seem to play well when their emotions are running high and DJ doesn't seem to bring that out of them enough. I hope he can adapt a bit to manufacture that emotion they seem to need, but not sure if he can.
Your post made me think of a comment Chychrun made after the Buffalo loss. He said they needed to stay on an even keel.. It might explain why they panic so easily or try to do too much. I would like to see a coach help the players temper their emotions, not elevate them.

A coach with the best structure and players that were willing to play it.

Our top guys and leaders were amazing 2 way players that showed pride in playing good defense, compared to the players we have today that can't wait to cheat and exit the dzone as early as possible.

Alfie
Hossa
Bonk
Arvedson
White
Havlat
Fisher

Then you got a Dcore of
Chara
Redden
Philips
Rachunek
Meszaros
Pothier
Those were the days.

Pretty much. They wont hire another coach until the next GM is here to provide input on it as well. So DJ has about 1-2 months left. What could make it interesting is if the sens randomly start winning a lot of games.

don’t think a new GM will be in place that quickly….. unless SSs list of potential GMs are available now, otherwise he would be better off requesting permission to speak to someone already working for another franchise, and granted permission and find the person he wants.

Also, if the Senators are well entrenched in a playoff spot in 2 months, doubt DJS would be replaced, but if they’re out of a playoff spot in 2 months, DJS should be let go.

DJ has way more good will than people seem to think. He's not close to Dorion on an un-qualified level.

DJ shielded this team from gross mismanagement and a horrible culture.

I think his message has worn thin but he's a way better coach than most posters believe.

He'll last until the end of the season unless the team quits on him. Staios is right. The team doesn't cheat on effort.

Still an absolute tirefire defensively. The personnel barely matters at this point.

Ya, they can score, but they can't defend. Same old same old.

I don't know if they'll fire DJ, or how soon, or how bad he is. But, on a separate point, coaches have been fired during the season and interims have been put into place to finish out the season. It's happened before more than just once or twice.
