Correct, not a fan of any Sens people on twitter quite frankly but wouldn't call him anything in particular
I would.

Not the right place to get into it, I could send examples via private message.. but I unfortunately get some of this guy's garbage on my feed through mutuals. Also don't like how he bullied people like Mendes, Salvian, Simpson, etc. So for a dose of his own medicine, I'll remind people what a knob he is when they share anything of his.

For a little on topic, I really thought DJ would have been let go after this road trip.

After 8 games, about 10% of the season, we have 8 points and are sitting out of the playoffs. The team needs to get 10 points for every 8 games played. Still early but the team is behind its main competitors for a playoff position. To get back into contention we need to win 6 of the next 8 games (to gain 12 points to recover from the slow start). The coaching staff needs to get this team going.

I know that in the past here the GM has chosen some of the associate coaches, and the coach has chosen some others.

It’s interesting because the GM can choose an associate that he thinks may develop into a head coach, or at least a guy who can step up if the head coach needs to be fired.
I suspect that the Head Coach can participate with the GM in the determination of the requirements for assistant coaches and in the interviews with the top candidates. The Head Coach might have a preference and would most likely advise the GM which assistant coaches he prefers/recommends. The GM would have the final say and in most cases would likely agree with the recommendations of the Head Coach. With a POHO, the POHO could be involved too but at the final stages of the hiring process.

I honestly don't think many posters actually witnessed how good those teams were.

I dunno about that, he's developed players well. They care about one another they get along, they were playing hard for one another. The message is stale time for a new voice.
I don't know about that, they have a lot of bad habits and look lost out there a lot of the times. It's one thing to not punish players when they make mistakes as rookies, it's another to not correct those mistakes along the way. Good coaches find out the strengths of each player and use them accordingly. Some of this lies at the feet of the GM not acquiring the required assets based on position/needs, but how can a team not know how to defend and not treat the puck as a hot potato after 5 years? They say usually the coach pays for price for a team not performing because you can't get rid of your entire roster, however in this case, I believe coaching is mostly the issue.

We see the coaches constantly talking to the players during broadcasts especially after they make mistakes, are people blind to this? The players have to take some responsibility too, they are the ones who are playing the games & making those mistakes, sometimes it really is their fault & no one elses.

News Flash - players make mistakes especially young players & they have a number of very young players on the team.

The GM has by far been the bigger issue.

To give DJ no credit for this teams development and how much they care for one another isn't a very objective way to look at the situation. I said in the post you quoted they need a new voice. Not sure what else you want but how someone coach's a developing team compared to one ready to compete now is different. If he stifled the players too much at development stages they don't progress. You seem to be wanting a perfect coach which is almost impossible to obtain. Even the best coach's of all time have a message that gets stale. If you don't think they're attempting to correct the players mistakes or bad habits you aren't correct. Problem is the message isn't getting through.

That's whats happened here he did a good job now its time for a change to take the team to the next level.

What makes you think the Senators “care for one another” more than any other team in the league? More than the Bruins, Leafs, Lightning, Panthers, Hurricanes, Rangers, Islanders, etc? Where do we rank in the “caring for one another” standings?

It’s such an odd thing to give a coach credit for.

DJ seems like a great dude, no doubt, but people are really grasping at straws when evaluating him as an NHL coach.

Lots of great dudes have coached NHL teams. Some were great coaches, too, while others were not. DJ is not.

I dunno I didn't say that though. So hard to answer that question.

How do you know it's a tight group. You can tell how they stick up for one another. They work hard, they hang out together off the ice it's not a clicky group. That's not a strange thing to give a coach credit for at all. Not sure how it's such a foreign concept to someone. Maybe if you have never played sports and been on championship teams. I guess. But even if you didn't, if you listen to hockey pod Casts the players talk about it. Coach's talk about it.

Frankly Most people that post here couldn't identify a system, d zone coverage, neutral zone re groups/breakouts and those are always the ones that are loudest about that type of thing ironically. I have a friend who played for him in Windsor. He's fair, he's committed and he's intelligent.

However I'll say it again they need a new voice. It's an impossible task to be a teams long term development head coach and transition to a championship team. There is always a hand off.

DJ was not given a very good roster of players in the past.

That's until Dorion steps in, and it's Bigmouth Strikes Again.

And how about "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" if DJ and Dorion get axed at once?

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people
And I want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their home
And I'm welcome no more
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine
