Ya, some people have been consistently wrong when it came to regime that has been in place. I don't expect Staois to say yes we're searching (or interviewing) for a new coach now in a press conference or to media. The team is going to have to perform well in November I'd guess. That's the best situation for DJ to extend his tenure as the Senators coach.
Exactly, if the team project to be bellow 500 in November. Probably the end for DJ

How ridiculous…. Show me one post, prior to the NHL announcement last week, that Ottawa was likely going to be penalised for the Dadonov NTC issue…. That indicated the possible loss of a first round pick….
You're building yet another straw-man. People don't need a tweet or whatever to deduct that not revealing a NTC isn't a good look and that bad consequences could follow. It's actually pretty obvious and people can look at precedence and previous examples (circumventing a rule in the CBA) to easily figure out what direction this is headed in.

I agree with the other poster. Just take your "L" and move on. Your just digging a deeper hole for yourself and the earth is caving in on you.

nice try, but putting words into my post, that I did not post is ridiculous.

I follow the Sens closely and listen to a few Sens podcasts, and there was never a mention of this penalty (1st rounder) until a week ago…. So up until then, there was a low percentage of PD being let go, but once the NHL rules a loss of a 1st rounder, obviously this was reason enough to part ways with PD, as the buck stopped with him.

but go ahead and believe your fantasy, as it seems important to you.

Lolz.

Figured you could not provide one post…

By the way, what we’re the previous examples, and which one set the precedent?

LOL. You're under the illusion that when you demand something or want somebody to run around & waste their time, that they need to go along with your request.

When a team circumvents (or tries to) a rule in the CBA, the league has penalized those organizations in the past.

You stated in this forum that Dorion would not be let go until the end of the season. There's no way to trick, distract, or bluff your way out of this. Just take the L and move on.

I quoted your post that stated that you said Dorion would not get fired until the end of the season.

He is no longer with the organization as of yesterday.

You were wrong, got called out. Move on.

But what precedent is there for punishment because there aren’t any GMs that stupid to not reveal the NTL? So how could anyone know it would be a 1st round pick.

It’s well documented Ottawa was at fault all over the internet

why do you have to misrepresent what I’ve posted?

I have clearly posted, many times, that both DJS and PDs fate were directly tied to the teams performance on the ice, and that either or both could be let go as soon as December IF the team was not in a playoff spot.

All those posts were before the details, revealed a week ago, that the NHL could impose, and finally did impose the 1st round penalty….

Clearly that was reason enought to part ways with PD.

There is no L or W to be had here, besides being so childish, it’s laughable. Everyone knows this unforeseen loss of a 1st changed everything…. Could care less what you’re trying to spin this into.. it’s childish…

Some people must have a thick skull… a week ago, No One here knew of the possibility of the Sens losing a 1st round pick, related to a trade made 18 months ago, until the media revealed the likelyhood it could happen this week … and it did. I was not wrong, so call me out as much as you want, it changes nothing…..

LOL. No kidding. I'm not sure how a self-described "avid hockey fan" wouldn't know there are consequences for circumvention of a rule. Maybe the game he's playing is people didn't know the exact punishment (a 1st rounder)?

Which post #, In th “Daddy” thread, where this was being discussed?

There is no post, of mine in the “Daddy” thread, since last Thursday or after the potential of losing a 1st rounder, that I said what you’re alleging .

With how long and how much bad it took to get rid of Dorion I sometimes feel like DJ may have alot more rope then we would like.

It seems like he would have to finger paint his lineup card in poo or participate in "Bottomless Saturdays" dress code before they give him the yank!

Wrong. We’ve known about the Dadonov fiasco for over a year.

Well the trade happened in March 2022 so sure, everyone knew it happened. Nobody knew of the two day hearing or that there would be a punishment handed down until last week. Personally at the time I suggested a 1st round pick was a possible punishment, but given the time that past it was unreasonable to assume that. Seemed like an issue the league had moved on from, there was no information for over a year. Friedman even reported that their would be no punishment shortly after the deadline.

I bet there is some of you who are on bended knee praying for the Sens to go on a losing streak so that you get your wish and get rid of DJ. Good Luck to you!!

I think the players legitimately like DJ as a person and as a coach and that makes a difference. The players do play hard the vast majority of the time, even in the losses they outshot opponents and drove the play but the defensive breakdowns happen too often and our goalies have not been bailing us out.

They are trying to see what happens in the next 15-20 games and I'm sure the decision to keep him is constantly re-assessed. If we hit a losing streak I'm pretty sure DJ is gone as well.

For now, they want to give him and this roster a chance and I can understand that given the chemistry in the locker room. DJ is also a part of that.

Well, the guy in charge of determining how much rope DJ gets was just fired, and the guy in charge of determining how much rope Dorion got for most of his tenure passed away so idk how much you can read into past ropes....

I suspect that DJ and the other coaches might be gone before a new GM is announced in order to clear the way for the new GM to search for and hire his own coaching staff. Probably after the season ends and better GM candidates and coaches become available.

Well the Dorion Booster Club was right about one thing: Andlauer didn't just fire Dorion on day one. They said he would get the lay of the land, assess Dorion's work and then decide on his future. That is what happened. Fired after 8 games.

I expect the same will be true for DJ Smith. All eyes are squarely on him now. Staios will be monitoring how things go. We'll see if he likes what he sees.

Once DJ is let go I'd like to see a structure within the coaching staff that sees an experienced HC with Chris Kelly as an associate. I think he'll make a great head coach one day; he just needs a bit more experience, IMO.

If we get Julien or Vigneault to sign on for a couple years and groom Kelly that would be an ideal setup.
