Says you. I think he and his staff have done a great job developing this young team.

Now it’s time for him to coach them to become a winner. He’s acknowledged the change needed this year, but he has to make it happen. He deserves the chance to try and make the transition in my opinion.

Young coach, young team, I can be patient for just a little longer.

Most people in the NHL agree with your sentiment
Pretty obvious he'll get his shot this year, even if the rope is short. They're not going to fire him before the season starts.

With the roster we have, if we don't have a winning record after 15 games, he's gone no question.

I would say 17, as that leaves a three day break between US Thanksgiving and the first of December …. 13 games at home in that stretch including a six game home stand before going on the road December 1st, if you cannot have a healthy winning record by then, with the roster they have, then yes DJS should not accompany the team to Columbus.

That’s a dumb schedule with so many home games early.

Didn’t realize 13 of the first 17 games are at home

That’s amazing and should help for a better start

2 of the home games are in Sweden... Lets hope this team copes better with that trip than the last one.

Thursday, Nov. 16, vs. Detroit, 2 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 18 vs. Minnesota, 11 a.m.

NHL makes the schedule, teams give them the buildings availability, and preferences for home games, it’s all dumped into a computer, and I guess there’s an algorithm involved.

Do you think Toronto is going to give up any home games of revenue?
Do you not think the Senators, or any teams playing in Sweden are going to be paid for the two games in Sweden?

ticket prices range from $121 CAD to $650 CAD, Capacity is just over 13000, for hockey at Avicii Arena.

Yes.

Do you think it would equal the revenue of a prime time sold out Toronto home game?

No, it won't.

The arena holds 13,850 spectators. Maybe Ottawa agreed to it because we're pessimistic about our own attendance.

Meanwhile, we give up our own home ice advantage aside from the on-ice "last change" type mechanics.

could care less about the revenue Toronto makes… does not keep me up at night.

bet the average ticket price is higher than what the CTC charges, and bet both games will be sellouts…. Ottawa is not losing money on this.

I read somewhere teams were given a choice, and if they took a home game in Sweden they'd receive a payout from the NHL of the average home game revenue for it, not sure if that was team average or league average. Can't find anything on it now either, so idk how reliable that info is.

No, just two home games.
They’re playing two “Home Games” in Sweden…yes I know it’s not the Same as playing in your own building, and sleeping in your own bed afterwards…. But don’t think the NHL is forcing the Senators to go to Sweden, and if they decided to surrender home games to Detroit, and Minnesota….. I’ll bet those two games in Ottawa would not have been guaranteed sellouts in Ottawa…. Ottawa averaged 1895 below capacity last season… and both these games in Sweden will most likely be sellouts.

Senators are doing their part to “Sell” the NHL…. It would not have been my choice… but they made it.

I didnt even realize the first 13 of first 17 are at home or something.

He has 10 games. If we arent in winning percentage, he's gone. Like NyQuil said, I can't believe he's here (in different words).

Should have been gone last season.

I mean hell the stanley cup winners fired their f***ing coach after missing the playoffs 2 seasons ago for the first time in their existence.

Yet the Sens are sticking with a coach that has led them to 5 losing seasons.

If the this team did it the Vegas way, he would have been ousted a long time ago.

When the Senators went into the full five year tear down to the studs rebuild, did you NOT expect five losing seasons?

How could you have a complete, from the ground up rebuild and still have winning seasons?

No, because the team set expectations. In 2019, GMPD said: “Next year, we need to start contending for the playoffs. Two years from now, we need to be a playoff team. Three years from now, we need to be a team that contends in the playoffs.”

And sure, we can point to COVID and a flat cap as complicating factors here. But let's not act like it was unreasonable to feel like we should have been competitive by now.

The owner didn't

Kind of hard to characterize the tear down as a 5 year plan when the org itself doesn't seem to have had that in mind.
