how many more points is it acceptable for Kallgren to blow?

If only someone had suggested before the season that the team should have a better 3rd due to the uncertainty of Murray and Samsonov. In the end this probably doesn't matter. The team will probably still qualify for the playoffs and it can't be up to a 3rd goalie to lead this team to playoff success.

Concerns

-No secondary offense
-Little 5 on 5 goal scoring
-Banged up blueline that already wasn't good enough.
-Pathetic 3 on 3 play.
-Boneheaded giveaways

Fix this then worry about the 3rd stringer.
Why do things need to be fixed in order, why not do some things at the same time?

So Nylander's 2 turnovers in OT last night "aren't a concern", or Marner's terrible pass in OT that led to the OT goal, "aren't a concern"?

re: Malgin - I'd say he isn't doing that bad for a 4th line guy....smaller guy who actually takes the body when given the chance.

Anyway....back to OT. How many games is it now that a terrible giveaway has led to the winning goal...... Kallgren didn't make those plays by the way.

You want to throw a kid like Woll in, who hasn't even played a game this year?

Also...in your first post you said Kallgren should have had the first goal.......really? It was going 4 ft wide and hit Kampf then went in....

Maybe you have to temper your expectations a bit.
The bolded never happened.

Unless Murray tweaked something and need an extra day's rest, I have no clue why Kallgren started last night. Shocked that he did to be honest. It was not a back-to-back situation. He should have been given one of Friday or Saturday's games, and they should have just rode Murray these next few games because he's been excellent since coming back.

Another situation where Keefe is overthinking it. Ride your goalies, whether it be Murray or Samsonov, until both are healthy and can be rotated. Except in back-to-back situations. Leaving points on the board because you're running an average 3rd stringer is not going to cut it.

Some argument can be made that the goal support hasn't always been there for him. That said, having him lead the goalies in appearances has to be an awkward and less than ideal spot for the team to find itself in.

Didn't lead to the goal.
I guess not directly since the Isles wound up in the zone before heading back up ice. I think the Leafs biggest problem in OT has been not enough focus on keeping possession and setting up great scoring chances, and a blind-pass turnover, even if it's in the offensive zone, is a big part of the problem.

I'm confuz

Is this a poll or something, is there an over under, is it based on starts, what if a team mate we'll say Holl for example turns the puck over and Kallgren didn't notice who was on the ice and was busy playing back pocket banjo, huh what then?

100%, no argument there. Marner should have circled back with it, regrouped and got a line change.
I just think blaming a turnover that leads to a line change and a 2 on 2 goal 20/30 seconds later is a little much.

he is 2-3-4

that's 2 wins in 9 games.

Tonight he lost it by himself

you could argue he should have had the 1st goal

but it's the 2nd one that's the big problem because all he has to do is not play it and they win.

but he did choose to play it because he's an idiot.

I don't want to hear "there are no other options" because that's not f***ing true that's a lie.

option #1 play Murray

Option #2 call up Woll and play him he just got cleared

Option #3 give Keith Pietrozulli (sp?) his 1st career start.

Keefe Literally never has to play Kallgren but he continues to do so.

he continues to choose to lose.

how about not playing Kallgren and Choosing to win?
Agree Keefe plays Shalgren to rest Murray What an idiot Keefe is always hurting his teams? Hey Sheldon you idiot, how man games did Glenn Hall play in a row without rest?God i hate to watch Leafs now you and Dumbass have discouraged so so many fans ! I dont even wath many games now.

Depending how Woll looks now that he's healthy with the Marlies, maybe best case scenario they send down Kallgren and recall Woll until Samsonov is healthy hopefully next week.

Ahh yes, the fascinating behavioural science world. The ultra focus on micro-results, losing complete sight of long term goals.

You know why I'm not bringing up Nylander in OT? because the ONLY reason it even got there is because Kallgren chose to be an idiot and play the puck He is the ONLY reason it got there and that's not a good thing.

I was pretty irritated when i saw he was starting to be honest. It just gives you a bad feeling given that Murray has been rock solid since coming back. God i thought we were done with relying on subNHL talent in the net with Murray supposedly "healthy".

When is Samsonov due back?

He's a 3 who is being asked to play because of injury and our team blows in OT

He makes mistakes but blaming him alone for that record seems unfair to me
I would argue he is #4/5. Goalie guy Noodles on Overdrive says the Leafs should have a better #3 with an NHL resume.

Injuries have given him NHL starts that he is not ready for...may never be ready. He is older than Samsonov.

As I've said multiple times, we have tried that but we can't get them through waivers and the ones we do get through aren't any better than Kallgren (like Hutchinson)
Hell one year we lost 2 of them to waivers before the season even started

The only way I can see us having a good 3 is if we develop a young guy who's waiver exempt but that isn't in the system right now

He's definitely one of those (a 3, 4 or 5). The biggest problem is that his GP total thus far has him well above all of those levels.
