How many 60 goal seasons will Auston Matthews put up in his career?

Stamkos score 60 in 82, Matthews did it in 73.

It is a higher scoring year then when Ovi did it, but only 14 goals per team (on average). Ovi also played 82 games, to Matthews 73.

It would be nice if one thread for a massive milestone didn't have people trying to take things away or talk about what's more impressive. Sometimes it's ok to say congrats and leave it at that.
He also did it quicker than Ovi.

Ovi got his 60th in his 76th game Matthews did it in 73, while Stamkos needed all 82. If AM played every game this season he would've likely would have hit 66+

Funny line of reasoning coming from a fan of a team with McDavid and Draisatl playing together.
Do you watch hockey? They haven’t played together in like 2 years. But yeah i guess the PP counts?

I just wish Toronto fans had the same reasoning and energy when they discredited McDrai playing together for 2 years like they do now but nah, can’t expect reason when talking hockey with Toronto fans.

A lot of people in here need to stfu.

Just enjoy seeing another 60 goal season!

I was gonna sarcasm away with adjusted goals.
But turns out Matthews had > 60 adjusted goals last season.

Congrats to him, I'm out of sarcastic ammos. He's officially an Era-Adjusted 60 goal scorer. And a "real world" (whatever that is) goal scorer this season. + all the paces in the world.

Now, I can truly enjoy him except when the Habs play him or when he makes the Leafs win :)

30% or more of their time is not nothing.

It's 20% at ES which is not much at all. Again, you didn't disprove a single point I made.

Leaf fans told me McDrai playing together was the #1 reason both put up massive points. They get separated and basically put up the same production.

AM has 2 consecutive career years playing with Marner but nah, don't you dare use the same argument against us!

I've regularly said I think AM > Drai, I just want you guys to bring the same energy when talking about AM. He's an exceptional player who is being boosted by playing with Marner.

He's not on McDavid's level. Sorry.

Only 20 players have ever scored 60 goals in an NHL season, with 8 players achieving the feat multiple times. It's been done just 39 times in total.

Notably, Alexander Ovechkin, considered by many to be the greatest goal scorer of all time has only done it once.

Is this a fluke season for Auston Matthews where the stars aligned and everything went right, or can we expect him to put up these sorts of numbers going into the future? How many times do you think he will hit that legendary 60 goal marker in his career? How high does he make it up the list?

60 Goal Scorers:
(x5) Wayne Gretzky (81-82, 82-83, 83-84, 84-85, 86-87)
(x5) Mike Bossy (78-79, 80-81, 81-82, 82-83, 85-86)
(x4) Mario Lemieux (87-88, 88-89, 92-93, 95-96)
(x4) Phil Esposito (70-71, 71-72, 73-74, 74-75)
(x3) Brett Hull (89-90, 90-91, 91-92)
(x2) Pavel Bure (92-93, 93-94)
(x2) Steve Yzerman (88-89, 89-90)
(x2) Jari Kuri (84-85, 85-86)
(x1) Steven Stamkos (11-12)
(x1) Alexander Ovechkin (07-08)
(x1) Jaromir Jagr (95-96)
(x1) Teemu Selanne (92-93)
(x1) Luc Robitaille (92-93)
(x1) Alexander Mogilny (92-93)
(x1) Bernie Nicholls (88-89)
(x1) Lanny Mcdonald (82-83)
(x1) Dennis Maruk (81-82)
(x1) Guy Lafleur (77-78)
(x1) Steve Shutt (76-77)
(x1) Reggie Leach (75-76)

these types of questions boggle the mind

what kind of research did this require and.... why

on top of that, you'd need a crystal ball to say how many 60 goal seasons Austin Matthews will score between now and say, the year 2040

lol how do you guys conjure this stuff up
