It's amazing how a team that supposedly plays on the perimeter manages to get so many shots and chances from inside, close-up, high-danger areas around the net.
We must be magic.

Easy answer : Style of play.

Many NHL teams are built like real hockey teams and play a big and heavy game, that includes hitting, fighting and physical play.

Teams built on skill and skating and are non physical, and prefer to stick check rather than body check and don't like to play physicial or in traffic draw less penalties.

Happy that the team's PP success rate is so close to the top of the league's rankings. Have to be able to convert on enough of the opportunities first and foremost.

Hey is there data/site showing by team where their goals have come from within feet from the net?
Sure, there are stats for everything and they all should be taken with a grain of salt.

No i would be interested in seeing the correlation between

1. Specifically where in the high danger zone leafs are credited with the high danger chance
2. Specifically where in the high danger zone leafs have scored from

Versus

Their league standing in high danger chances accumulated

I like to watch games around league and the answer is pretty obvious. Our offensive style will draw the least penalties.

The only player we have for example that can get us a power play from a net drive is Nylander. Nobody really does that. For lots of years our bottom 6 vanilla and tries to finesse. No crashing down low at a large amount.

Also our skill guys (the 4 of them) are very good at their job. They're not easy to catch for the clutch and grab especially Marner

I find these vague terms fairly meaningless.

I'm sure it's not hard to find if you look though.

It's also amazing that most penalties are stick infractions, which occur all over the ice and are typically awarded favorably to teams that carry the puck a lot. Cross checks and net front battles are rarely penalties

I'm not one into conspiracy theories but really? With our forwards who are skilled and fast and this is the result? Bottom 3rd in penalties drawn...dead last for one year during one of the most skilled era's of this team's history.

This stinks to high heaven.
I wonder if that's because of how early we score in the PP and so reduce total time.

We get a lot of chances from in tight... what is everyone watching?

I think the main reason we don't get a lot of calls is that we don't take a lot.

There is a graph to show penalties taken vs penalties drawn and it is pretty linear, the refs are there to make the game even, not to call it by the books.

The insecurity of some is off the charts.

Sounds like were prepping the excuses early in case of a first round loss.
This team is in the bottom 5 for penalties drawn over the course of the last 5 years, while simultaneously being a top 5 team in the past 5 years, with a top 3 PP.

Save that for the contracts handed to 34 and 88 this summer. The refereeing excuse should be enough to get us to the draft.
Oh I'm sure we'll need more that just the refereeing excuse. Don't worry, I have a list we can use should the need arise.

Wrong again. Nobody's even talking about the Leaf's past playoff outcomes except you. We're talking about the broken officiating and DOPS system.
Keep ignoring the facts and convincing yourself that everything's fine in a burning house if you want though.
If this is the way you feel, why would you watch and support such a league?

You don’t go the SCF three straight years without hockey sense. I’ve seen Tampa embellished high sticks again this year. If the Leafs are smart they’ll point that out to both the NHL and the media.
They know that refs can't call everything. They are smart enough to know when they can get away with it. I mean anybody who has watched a few games, knows that after a team gets a few penalties in a row, the other team is guaranteed to get one next, even for the littlest infraction.

I love hockey, and support the Leafs, and unfortunately, this is the way it is for the biggest hockey league in North America and the league the Leafs are in.
Just because an aspect of something is broken right now doesn't always mean you completely throw out it and everything associated with it.
Plus, when we win, it will make it that much sweeter.

Any idea when this happens because some of us don't want to find ourselves in the same boat as this Leaf fan.

If you knew when it would happen, sports would be pretty boring.
Got one of the best chances in the league this year.

This lady hopes you are right. If the f'n Bruins did not sell their souls to the devil for a solid run at a Cup, I'd like our chances so much more.
