Can't say I'm surprised if this is the case, the team felt totally headless without Larkin. Not just in terms of playing ability, but in giving a shit as well. Generally glad Kane was on the team for the talent and excitement--plus it's been a long time since we've been able to feel like the belle of the ball in terms of big name players choosing Detroit. But in light of how the season played out and the end of the year interviews went, can't help but feel like the team was being used as a vehicle for Kane and I'm not sure I like that.I won’t say who, but I asked what the biggest issue was this year. How did the team literally collapse during that long losing streak towards the end of the year. The simple and quick answer was poor leadership.
“Leadership was a mess. Total joke. Team was divided and the leadership couldn’t regain control”
Apparently a lot of guys checked out when the issue started to occur.
Honestly you'd hope that this kind of issue is solved internally through the younger players taking the reins. Raymond stepping into the spotlight--and now playing with an "A" for Sweden? Very positive going forward. I've got all the time in the world for Seider, but I'm also expecting big things from him next year and won't shy away from criticism if he doesn't show up.
